Jake Anderson makes a major reveal about his personal life on the Season 22 premiere of Deadliest Catch. For the first time, he publicly confirmed his split from wife Jenna Anderson, whom he married in 2012.
“After 17 years being together, 13 years married, Jenna and I have decided to call it quits,” Jake says in the episode. “It’s due to a lot of things. The major one is that I’m gone too much crab fishing. But I got three little ones that need to eat, that have to go to school, that have to have doctor’s appointments, and I don’t have a job.”
He meets with a lawyer, who delivers him tough news about his boat, the Titan Explorer. “I don’t want you investing any more money in your ownership interest in the Titan Explorer because that could end up being an asset that needs to be divided in the case,” the attorney explains.
Jake takes over as captain of the Cornelia Marie, Phil Harris‘ old boat. “I worked on it before,” he explains. “I was young, had just met Jenna, was getting yelled at all the time. Life was hard for me.”
However, it doesn’t take long for him to realize that the boat needs a lot of work, including a generator replacement. While that’s being fixed, he joins Rick Shelford‘s Aleutian Lady as a deckhand, a job he hasn’t worked in 11 years. After a successful catch by the Aleutian Lady, Jake learns that the Cornelia Marie is ready to sail again, putting him back in the captain’s seat.
At the time the episode was filmed in fall 2025, Jake and Jenna had been separated for eight months. The exes share three children: son Aiden, born in January 2015, daughter Cadence, born in June 2017, and son Luka, born in March 2020.
The aftermath of the split will play out on Season 22 of Deadliest Catch, which premieres on May 8.
