We’re all thinking it: What does that Hunter Davenport (Charlie Evans) twist mean for Dean (Stephen Kalyn) and Allie (Mika Abdalla)? Stephen Kalyn is giving us (some) answers. (Warning: Spoilers for Off Campus Season 1 ahead!)
In Off Campus‘ Season 1 finale, Dean is in the middle of confessing that he wants a real relationship with Allie, who then admits that she slept with Hunter. In her defense, she didn’t know there was bad blood between Hunter and Dean. And, if we’re being technical, Dean also agreed to complete Allie’s hookup homework assignment.
According to Kalyn, Dean doesn’t share our perspective when it comes to Allie’s actions. When the Off Campus cast visited Swooon’s studio to break down Season 1’s biggest plot points, Kalyn revealed exactly where Dean and Allie stand in those shocking final moments. Do Dean’s feelings toward her remain the same going into Season 2?
Kalyn says that the Hunter revelation “absolutely” changes things for Dean and Allie. “I think he experiences jealousy for the first time, and that’s something new to him, and there’s some conflict between him and Hunter,” he explained. “And yeah, Allie screwed it all up.”
“Harsh,” Ella Bright chimed in. (She speaks for all of us.)
“Not good” was Kalyn’s description of where Dean and Allie stand after Season 1. “I think in that moment he’s going to shut down and ignore everything that he just felt and push it to the side and move on because he’s butt-hurt,” the actor teased.
Abdalla previously told Swooon that the Hunter twist “really serves Allie and Dean’s relationship in a great way.” She noted, “It kind of slows them down a little bit and introduces a little more drama.”
