Soap Star Cady McClain Makes Rare Comment About Ex-Husband Jon Lindstrom

Just because you’re exes doesn’t mean you can’t be friends. That’s how Beyond the Gates star Cady McClain feels, at least. The soap star and her ex-husband, Jon Lindstrom, are showing that it’s totally possible to be friendly post-split.
McClain addressed her relationship with her ex-husband in a new message, calling him “talented and kind.” She also called out those who are baffled by her and Lindstrom being on such good terms after their divorce.
“I happen to be spectacular friends with these spectacular people, one of whom happens to be my rather talented and kind ex-husband,” she wrote on Instagram. “If it baffles you… I can’t help you. It is my experience that many people like to put other people in little boxes so they can feel more comfortable. I’m more comfortable out of the box, thank you, and so are the people I like the best. We all enjoyed a lovely dinner and a very fine time.”

The All My Children alum shared a photo of her dinner with Lindstrom and their friends, including makeup artist Eldo Ray Estes.
McClain and Lindstrom were married from 2014 to 2024. They originally met on the set of As the World Turns in 2010. The former couple got engaged in 2012 and married on Valentine’s Day in 2014. (Lindstrom was previously married to soap star Eileen Davidson from 1997 to 2000.)
They announced their split in 2024. “After serious consideration, we have decided that our goals have been taking us in different directions and to end our marriage,” they wrote in a joint statement. “We remain friends and wish each other every happiness.”
Their relationship post-divorce has clearly remained amicable. In 2025, they both joined the cast of the CBS soap Beyond the Gates, with McClain playing Pamela and Lindstrom playing Joey. On May 21, McClain revealed on Instagram that she was headed back to Atlanta to film more Beyond the Gates episodes with her “pals in Atlanta.”
