The NASCAR world has lost an incredible racing talent. Kyle Busch died suddenly on May 21, 2026, after a brief illness. He was 41 years old.

Kyle had been married to the love of his life, Samantha, since 2010. Days before his death, Kyle and Samantha celebrated their son’s birthday. “Happy Birthday Brexton!!! Your mom & I are so proud of who you’re turning out to be! You’re the best kid on & off the track, you amaze us every day. Keep doing what you’re doing, and there is no limit to what you’ll accomplish! Love you, buddy!” Kyle wrote on Instagram.

The two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and his wife had the sweetest start to their love story. Learn more about Samantha and Kyle’s life off the track below.

Who is Kyle Busch’s wife?

Samantha Busch (née Sarcinella) hails from St. John, Indiana. The 40-year-old entrepreneur was a psychology student at Purdue University when she met Kyle. Samantha later received her master’s degree in industrial/organizational psychology from Purdue. She went to a nearby racetrack and crossed paths with her future husband.

In 2023, Samantha opened up about how she met Kyle. She began her story, “16 years ago (this Indy weekend) the promo model agency I worked for sent me down to Indianapolis to work for Chevy, getting people hyped up for the races. I was going into my senior year of college at Purdue at the time, a sorority girl, and no big surprise, not the sportiest of types. So I can honestly say it was my first time at a race track!”

She continued, “Now, to tell Kyle’s side of the story, he saw me from afar and asked his pr lady to ask if I wanted a ride! So needless to say, I hopped in the car, and the first thing I said when I saw him in his Chevy tee and ice-cold car was ‘wow, you got a way better assignment than I did.’ He looked at me funny, assuming I knew who he was, and we were off. I did most of the talking, big surprise, and then invited him to hang out with a group of us going out that night, to which he declined bc he had to work. Little did I know he had a truck race. So I thought that was the end of that until Mr. Shy had someone ask me for my number.”

Samantha revealed that she and Kyle “talked on the phone for 4 months before seeing each other and going on a date.”

Samantha is also the owner of Kyle Busch Motorsports, which she and Kyle started in 2010. The couple also created the Samantha and Kyle Busch Bundle of Joy Fund, which is “dedicated to advancing access to IVF care and coverage, increasing awareness, and providing support so others don’t have to navigate infertility alone.”

When did Kyle and Samantha Busch get married?

Kyle and Samantha started dating in 2008 and got married two years later in 2010. They said “I do” at the Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago on New Year’s Eve.

How many children do Kyle and Samantha Busch have?

Kyle and Samantha had two children together: Brexton Locke, 11, and Lennix Key, 4. Leading up to Brexton’s birth in 2015, Kyle and Samantha dealt with fertility issues. They eventually decided to use IVF treatments to conceive.

Brexton celebrated his 11th birthday just days before his father’s tragic death. Samantha wrote on Instagram on May 18, “11 years of loving you, cheering you on, and trying to figure out how you grew up this fast. Happy birthday to my sweet boy. Watching you become this driven, funny, kind-hearted little man has been the greatest gift. So proud of you every single day, Brex. No matter how tall you get or how fast you drive… you’ll always be my baby.”

As the couple looked to grow their family after Brexton, they experienced a pregnancy loss. “There’s always a piece of your heart that will be gone after the miscarriage,” Samantha said on the Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley podcast. “We had a lot of marital struggles because we had never dealt with something so heavy. We didn’t understand how each other were grieving, and we didn’t understand what each other needed in that time and place.”

Samantha and Kyle continued to experience infertility, which put a strain on their marriage. “Kyle was my rock, and it felt like I didn’t have that anymore,” Samantha told People. “We were spiraling. It felt like divorce was real, and it was scary.”

The couple welcomed their second child, daughter Lennix, via surrogate on May 10, 2022. Lennix celebrated her fourth birthday in early May. “Our sweet girl with the biggest personality, the funniest little spirit, and the most loving heart. Watching you grow has been one of the greatest joys of my life. You bring so much light, laughter, and love into every room you walk into,” Samantha wrote on Instagram.
