Jane Seymour is headed down the aisle! The Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman actress has confirmed that she said “yes” when her now-fiancé, John Zambetti, proposed on Valentine’s Day this year.
“I was surprised, but I was not surprised that he wanted me to live with him for the rest of our lives. That [decision] had already been made,” 75-year-old Seymour told People. But her soon-to-be husband wanted to make things official, saying, “I’m just kind of old school. I don’t like this partner talk. To me, we’re not forming a law firm.”

Who is John Zambetti?
John Zambetti, 78, will be Seymour’s fifth husband. He was married for 43 years before his first wife died. He had two kids from that relationship: a son, 38-year-old Johnny, and a daughter, Kathryn.
“He’s just the kindest, most intelligent, loving, caring, giving human being I’ve ever met,” Seymour told People when discussing her engagement.
In late 2025, the actress reflected on finding love in her 70s. “I honestly never thought I would find a really committed, healthy, lovely, loving relationship at this time of my life, but I’m incredibly blessed that I have,” Seymour told Hello! Magazine.
Seymour explained that the timing was perfect. “You’ve had a life. Many lives. And children, and grandchildren, and careers, and ups and downs,” she said. “You know what you want. I consider both of us so fortunate to have found each other at the time we have, because it wouldn’t have ever worked earlier. He had a different life – his world was medicine and touring, and mine was running around the world making movies. I think we met each other at exactly the right time.”
What does John Zambetti do for a living?
On an episode of Tamron Hall from May 2024, the actress explained what her then-boyfriend did for a living. “He’s the most wonderful, loving, extraordinary man,” she said. “He’s an ER doctor, very handy. And he has a rock band for the last 60 years called The Malibooz with Walter Egan.”
One of Zambetti’s kids has followed in his footsteps. “His son is a very successful rock musician with a group called The Palms. And his name’s Johnny Zambetti,” Seymour told People. “And I have a son who’s a rock musician too, Johnny Keach, so when we talked about them, we say ‘My Johnny,’ [since] they both have the same name.”
How did Jane Seymour and John Zambetti meet?
The couple first met at a Shwayze concert. The singer knew them both and introduced them. “Shwayze knew I would go and watch him because I’ve always supported him – I’m like his surrogate mother,” she said on Tamron Hall. “And it turns out John’s always been his surrogate father.”
“So I go, and Shwayze does his thing, and I’m there with Shwayze’s grandmother, and this guy says, ‘I think we’re supposed to meet,’ and I looked at him and went, ‘Yes, we are.’ That’s the answer, right? I was told I was supposed to meet someone,'” she continued.
The next day, Seymour and Zambetti had a “very, very long chat” over tea, which led to dinner. “And then we realized that his son, Shwayze, and my son, Sean, they were all friends, and he used to hang out at my house,” she added. They’d never met.
Years later, Seymour’s kids — she has six, including stepchildren — and Zambetti’s kids played matchmaker. “Our kids pretty much put us together,” Seymour told Hello! magazine. “They’re the ones that heard that he’d seen me and asked whether I was single or not.”

The couple started dating in August 2023. “We’re very different, but together we are living our best lives by supporting one another in what we can do now,” Seymour told Hello! “There’s nothing nicer than the fact he’s writing beautiful music, and we share that, and I watch him gig, and sometimes I’ll do a little background vocal.”
She added, “To have life and to have the world that we live in, and to have my grandchildren and friends and work that I love, and a man that I love. That combination gives me joy.”
