‘Heartstopper Forever’ Trailer Teases Charlie & Nick’s Bittersweet Final Chapter (VIDEO)

What To Know

  • The trailer for Netflix’s Heartstopper Forever teases the final chapter of Charlie and Nick’s high school romance.
  • Nick prepares for university while Charlie has another year in high school, testing the strength of their relationship.
  • The trailer also highlights the vibrant friend group ahead of the film’s July 17 premiere.

“Everyone thinks teenage relationships don’t last. Guess I’m an optimist then.”

On June 16, we said “hi” to the first trailer for Netflix’s Heartstopper Forever, the final chapter of Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) and Nick Nelson’s (Kit Connor) high school love story. “It’s a new school year for the Truham-Higgs gang. As Nick and Charlie’s relationship deepens, their thoughts turn to life after the last bell rings,” Netflix’s synopsis reads.

Set to Olivia Rodrigo‘s new “stupid song,” the Heartstopper Forever trailer reveals that Charlie and Nick are dealing with a new roadblock in their relationship: The future. As we see Nick working on his personal essay for his university application, while Charlie still has another year in high school, it’s clear that the two will have to face life separately for the first time. Can their relationship survive the distance?

“Nick always thinks about the future,” Charlie tells his friends. “It’s like he’s there in his mind already, trying to stop a mistake that hasn’t happened yet. I never used to think about the future at all.”

In response, Isaac (Tobie Donovan) tells Charlie what we’re all thinking: “It’s because you’ve been too busy surviving.” This year looks like it will be no different.

The trailer makes it clear that Nick has started partying a little bit more as his high school career comes to an end. Outside a bar, Charlie can be seen chatting with another guy, leading Nick to confront him, saying, “You were just flirting with my boyfriend.” Uh oh!

Later, with tears in his eyes, Nick explains, “I’m only happy when I’m with you.” As Charlie puts it, “I don’t think that’s how it should be… I need you to be happy without me.”
