Will ‘Everything I Know About Love’ Return for Season 2? Everything We Know
We were truly blessed by the TV gods when Everything I Know About Love landed on Peacock, nearly four years after its original release. Based on Dolly Alderton’s bestselling memoir, the fictionalized series follows four best friends — Maggie (Emma Appleton), Birdy (Bel Powley), Nell (Marli Siu), and Amara (Aliyah Odoffin) — as they navigate life together in their London flat, tackling messy relationships, career ambitions, evolving identities, and the growing pains of adulthood.
The series was an instant hit, surprising absolutely no one. Alderton’s memoir has long been considered a millennial classic, celebrated for its honest take on friendship heartbreaks, nostalgia, love, and the bittersweet reality of growing up.
But given that the show is based on a single memoir — and a real person’s life — is there more story left to tell in a potential Everything I Know About Love Season 2? And where did Season 1 leave our favorite girlies? Here’s everything we know about the chances of an Everything I Know About Love Season 2, including what Alderton herself has said about the possibility of returning to the story.
What happened at the end of Everything I Know About Love Season 1?
Season 1 focused heavily on Birdy and Maggie’s seemingly unbreakable childhood friendship and how quickly things changed once Birdy fell in love with her Australian boyfriend, Nathan. While Maggie is technically the show’s protagonist and Alderton’s stand-in, she’s also the kind of friend who struggles to accept that the people around her are growing up, moving on, and building lives that don’t revolve around her.

By the finale, all four women were at major turning points in their lives. Birdy had fallen out with her housemates and made the controversial decision to move in with Nathan, much to everyone’s disappointment. Frustrated by Maggie’s endless chaos and disapproving of Nell’s decision to pursue an affair with her married boss, Birdy finally chose herself for once.
Nell, meanwhile, fully committed to that messy situationship, meeting her boss for a hotel-room rendezvous that could only end badly. Amara experienced one of the season’s most empowering arcs, leaving behind her corporate job to pursue her passion for dance with the support of her family. She also confronted Maggie about her dismissive attitude toward the racism and microaggressions she’d experienced as a Black woman in the workplace. And, in a win for viewers everywhere, she finally gave her ridiculously hot friends-with-benefits a real chance and agreed to an actual date.
As for Maggie? She spent much of the finale having an absolute nightmare of a trip to New York. After extending her work stay, she lost her passport, broke her phone, and found herself in a genuinely unsettling situation with a man she’d met on a dating app. Thankfully, the universe eventually threw her a bone in the form of a handsome stranger who helped her buy a MetroCard. The pair then enjoyed a whirlwind, rom-com-worthy connection that made saying goodbye nearly impossible.
By the end of the season, Maggie seemed ready to return to London with a new perspective on love, friendship, and growing up. She was helped along by a heartfelt speech from her mother about finding love when you least expect it — a scene that had viewers reaching for the tissues.
What would we want to see in Everything I Know About Love Season 2?
Despite the mixed feelings it left among the group, Birdy is embarking on an exciting new chapter by moving in with her first serious boyfriend. A potential second season could explore how she adapts to living with Nathan, navigates his established circle of couple friends, and balances her relationship with the independence she fought so hard to achieve. We’d also love to see Birdy develop a stronger sense of self outside of being someone’s girlfriend, and, of course, eventually repair her fractured friendships with Maggie, Nell, and Amara.

Meanwhile, Maggie appears to be finding her footing professionally. Despite a setback involving Kyle, a cast member on her TV show, discovering her notebook and derailing an important scene, she’s proven herself to be a valuable member of the team. A second season could see her growing more confident in her career, finding success with her blog, and perhaps even figuring out what she really wants from love. As for Patrick, the charming stranger she met in New York? We’d be shocked if a long-distance romance was in the cards. Their connection felt meaningful but also temporary, like a right person, right time situation. Patrick was clearly still processing his previous relationship, while Maggie’s life remains firmly rooted in London. Sometimes, a fleeting romance can change your life without becoming your forever love story.
Nell, meanwhile, is heading straight into chaos. After ending things with Neil and diving headfirst into an affair with her married boss, there’s no shortage of drama waiting for her. How long can they keep their relationship a secret? Will his wife find out? And if everything inevitably implodes, could Nell find herself looking for a new job, too?
Amara arguably has the most exciting future ahead of her. She’s taking a chance on a promising romance with the very attractive waiter from the group’s favorite brunch spot while pursuing her dream of dancing professionally. After spending so much of Season 1 feeling overlooked and underestimated, we’d love to see her finally get the spotlight she deserves.
And then there’s perhaps the biggest unanswered question of all: Who’s moving into Birdy’s old room? Will the flat gain another iconic addition to the girl gang, or will a new roommate throw the entire dynamic into chaos? Either way, we’re desperate for Season 2 of Everything I Know About Love.
Will there be a Season 2 of Everything I Know About Love?
Unfortunately, there are currently no plans for Everything I Know About Love Season 2. Trust us, we’re just as devastated as you are. We only got seven episodes with these characters, and it still doesn’t feel like enough.
That said, all hope is not lost. The series has found a whole new audience thanks to its arrival on Netflix and Peacock, and stranger things have happened than a beloved show getting a second life through streaming. Even better? Dolly Alderton has made it clear she’d love to revisit these characters.
Speaking at an event with RadioTimes, Alderton said: “I would love [for] there to be a Season 2. The book is about your 20s; we were honing in on a very specific bit, but the difference between a 24-year-old and a 27-year-old is enormous. It’s like dog years.”
She also revealed there are plenty of stories she still wants to tell. “I feel like there are so many things that I want to know about the girls: I want to know more about Nell’s family; I want to know more about Amara’s love life. There are just so many things that I’m desperate to get into with all four of them. So I would love another series,” she added.
And it’s not just Alderton who’s on board. The cast seems eager to return, too. Powley, who plays Birdy, revealed that the cast of Everything I Know About Love “all definitely want there to be a second series.” She described the first season as merely an introduction to the characters and hinted that there’s still plenty of story left to explore.
As for what she’d like to see happen next? Powley jokingly suggested one major development for Birdy:
“There’s so many places the show could go. I don’t know what necessarily I want my character to be doing [in a second season]. I don’t know… break up with Nathan.”
Look, we’re not saying we’re rooting against Birdy’s relationship, but we are saying that would make for excellent television.
For now, all we can do is cross our fingers and hope the streaming gods are listening. In the meantime, there’s plenty more Dolly Alderton content to dive into, including the memoir that inspired the series and her bestselling novels Ghosts and Good Material. Alderton has also written the highly anticipated upcoming adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, so thankfully, we’ll still be getting our fix of her sharp, funny, heartbreakingly relatable storytelling.
