John Crist is staying booked and busy. On July 4, he’ll be joining Ryan Seacrest to help host Disney Celebrates America: Nashville’s Star-Spangled Bash on ABC. Crist will be serving as a man-on-the-street reporter during the event.

Who is John Crist engaged to?
Crist is engaged to Lydia Fielder. He popped the question in August 2025 at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in downtown Nashville. Crist told Fielder they were attending a comedy awards show at the event space, which is how he lured her there in an outfit fit for engagement photos.
Fielder is a news anchor for WSMV in Nashville, per her LinkedIn. She’s been working there since 2022 after previously working as a reporter in Arkansas. Fielder graduated from the University of Arkansas in 2019.
The couple has approximately a 13-year age difference. They haven’t publicly announced their wedding date, but Fielder confirmed that they will be marrying in the fall of 2026.
How did John Crist and Lydia Fielder meet?
Crist and Fielder first met in 2021 after he messaged her on Instagram. He sent the message after doing a sketch that was a “fake news story about a news anchor melting down because it’s so cold outside.” After he posted the sketch, a friend sent him an Instagram video of Fielder “literally doing the same thing I was making a joke of,” he explained.
They began chatting and then Crist invited Fielder to one of his comedy shows when he was performing in Arkansas, where she was living at the time, a few months later. She relocated to Nashville in October 2022.
What happened between John Crist and Lauren Alaina?
Crist dated country singer Lauren Alaina for about four months in 2019. They broke up about two weeks before she appeared as a contestant on Dancing With the Stars that fall.
The pair never discussed the details behind their split, but just a few months after they ended their relationship, Crist was accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women. He entered treatment after the public allegations.
“While I am not guilty of everything I’ve been accused of, I confess to being guilty of this — I have treated relationships with women far too casually, in some cases even recklessly,” he said in a statement at the time.
Meanwhile, Alaina told Entertainment Tonight, “I have not talked to him recently, no. But I wish him and everyone in his story the best. I’m not really involved in that. A breakup is always hard, but I’ve just been really focused on myself and dancing each week and doing my best.”
