Which ‘Bridgerton’ Season Is the Most Popular? Breaking Down the Numbers
What To Know
- Netflix has released four seasons of Bridgerton and a Queen Charlotte spinoff so far.
- Two Bridgerton seasons still sit on Netflix’s Top 10 shows of all time list in 2026.
- Only one Bridgerton season has never cracked the list.
Bridgerton is clearly one of Netflix’s greatest successes. The Regency romance has not one but two seasons on Netflix’s Most Popular Shows of All Time list, after all. But since the series began in 2020, which installment — and which couple — has been the biggest hit with subscribers? Swooon is breaking them down from most to least popular.
According to What’s on Netflix, the streamer determines a show’s success based on Complete Viewing Equivalents (or hours viewed divided by runtime) in its first 91 days. The site shared the numbers for Seasons 1 through 4, as well as its Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story spinoff. (So, even if you have rewatched Kanthony or Polin‘s season on repeat since their debut, it doesn’t count towards our popularity ranking.)
It’s worth keeping in mind that Seasons 3 and 4 used a different strategy for release, splitting them into two parts that were released about a month apart. In those cases, the 91-day window starts when Part 2 drops at the time of publication.
Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s get into it. Below, we’ve ranked each season by their CVE (and we threw in their Rotten Tomatoes scores just for fun). Find out which Bridgerton seasons had the best and worst run.

1. Bridgerton Season 1
The first season of Bridgerton, which came out in 2020 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, is also its most popular. Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon Basset’s (Regé-Jean Page) love story, which sees the former enter the marriage mart and fake-date the closed-off Duke of Hastings to boost her prospects, put the show on the map. In 2026, Season 1 still sits as Netflix’s seventh most popular show of all time. No other Bridgerton season has surpassed it.

2. Bridgerton Season 3
The only other season to still sit on Netflix’s Top 10 Most Popular Shows in 2026 is the one starring Polin, aka Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton). Penelope’s (then-unrequited) crush on Colin comes to light in Season 1, when the show also reveals Penelope as the anonymous gossip columnist Lady Whistledown. In 2023’s Season 3, Penelope and Colin’s slow burn finally pays off when Colin offers to help Penelope find a husband before realizing his own feelings for her. The premise apparently had a lot of viewers tuning in, since it’s Netflix’s ninth most popular show of all time.

3. Bridgerton Season 2
Sitting in the middle of the pack is Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley) and Anthony Bridgerton’s (Jonathan Bailey) Season 2, which was released in 2022. Viscount Anthony Bridgerton is in search of a practical (and loveless) match. He thinks he finds it in Edwina Sharma (Charithra Chandran), the Diamond of the Season, but finds himself drawn to (and clashing with) her older sister, Kate.
Their enemies-to-lovers romance still performed strongly for Netflix, despite the dip from Season 1. Though it has since lost its spot on Netflix’s All-Time Top 10 list, it did make it there at one point.
Release date: March 25, 2022 (All episodes)
Viewers in first 91 days: 93,800,000

Rotten Tomatoes audience score: 72%

4. Bridgerton Season 4
What’s on Netflix didn’t share the exact final numbers for Season 4, so its CVE could technically be above Season 2. But it didn’t crack the All-Time Top 10 list, so we’re ranking it just below. In Season 4, the free-spirited Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) has a Cinderella-inspired romance with maid Sophie (Yerin Ha), first meeting at a masquerade. Benedict falls in love with the “Lady in Silver” before she disappears from the ball. Some time later, he meets and falls in love with the real Sophie. They have to navigate their class differences before they get a happy ending.
Release dates: Episodes 1-4 on January 29, 2026; Episodes 5-8 on February 26, 2026
Viewers in first 91 days: Between 92,000,000 and 95,000,000
Rotten Tomatoes critic score: 82%
Rotten Tomatoes audience score: 70%

5. Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story
It probably comes as no surprise that the Queen Charlotte spinoff didn’t reach the height of the main franchise, though it still performed well, critics-wise and numbers-wise. According to What’s on Netflix, it once sat in the All-Time Top 10 list after its premiere. This prequel series shifts tonally from the main series, exploring the early days of Queen Charlotte’s (India Amarteifio) arranged marriage to King George III (Corey Mylchreest). The season navigates Charlotte’s devotion to George as his mental illness worsens.
Release date: May 4, 2023 (All Episodes)
Viewers in first 91 days: 81,300,000
Rotten Tomatoes critic score: 94%
Rotten Tomatoes audience score: 75%
Where will Bridgerton Season 5 land? Only time will tell. The fifth season, with Francesca (Hannah Dodd) and Michaela (Masali Baduza) at the center, is currently filming.
