Maren Morris recently spent time in New York City for Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift‘s wedding, and she got to catch up with some longtime friends while she was in town. One of those was Cassadee Pope, who moved to the Big Apple in 2025 to star in an Off-Broadway show and pursue her acting career.
Pope won Season 3 of The Voice as a country singer and spent years in Nashville, which is how she and Morris formed a friendship. Both women have distanced themselves from country music in recent years, and some of their social media activity from their recent weekend together has fans buzzing.

Morris and Pope have not confirmed their status, but Pope posted a photo of them locking lips during Morris’ visit. “She won’t go out with you because she’s out with me, silly,” she captioned the pic on her Instagram Story. Morris reposted it to her own Story, as well.
Pope also shared another photo of the women and revealed that she’s trying to get Morris to move to NYC. Morris is openly bisexual, while Pope has not publicly spoken about her sexuality.

While some fans think the kissing photo was a relationship hard-launch, others theorize that Pope and Morris were just having fun. The ladies have remained tight-lipped about what’s actually going on.
Does Cassadee Pope have a boyfriend?
Amid the conversation about Pope and Morris’ relationship, many fans insisted that The Voice winner isn’t dating Morris because she has a boyfriend. In May, Pope did celebrate her one-year anniversary with Blake Lowell with a social media post. However, it has since been deleted from her Instagram (though it remains on Facebook), and she no longer follows him on the app.
Pope previously dated Nashville star Sam Palladio for six years before their 2024 breakup. Before that, she was in a long-term relationship with All Time Low drummer Rian Dawson, and they got engaged before their 2017 split.
When did Maren Morris come out?
Morris came out as bisexual in June 2024. She posted about Pride Month on social media and wrote, “Happy to be the B in LGBTQ+.”
The following year, she told GLAAD, “I’ve always known that I am attracted to men and women. I think because I’ve been in straight relationships the last 15 years of my life, which has been consumed by my music career and living in Nashville, I never felt brave enough to talk about it.”
In August 2024, Morris released the song “Push Me Over” about a hookup with a woman. She also opened up about her “brief” relationship with a woman in a now-deleted April 2026 TikTok video, per People. Morris said she and the unnamed woman agreed to keep their relationship casual, but it quickly became “clear” the other person was “looking for different things.”
“Y’all I’m not kidding, within three weeks of this completely falling apart, it was lies, threats to my reputation, and borderline extortion,” Morris claimed. “It was pretty f**ked up. And for that to be my first experience is just so depressing, and I was just like, ‘I think I’m just really cool being alone.'”
Prior to coming out, Morris was married to country singer Ryan Hurd. They started dating in 2015, tied the knot in 2018, and filed for divorce in October 2023. Their split was finalized three months later. Morris and Hurd share a son, Hayes, who was born in March 2020. Today, they are friends and amicable coparents.
