Boys of Tommenhas found its cast for keeps! Readers of Chloe Walsh’s book series have been eagerly waiting for Prime Video to reveal who would play Johnny and Shannon ever since the TV adaptation was announced in February. Season 1 will follow the events of Walsh’s Binding 13 and Keeping 13, introducing viewers to a group of friends attending a prestigious Irish private school. As we watch different couples fall in love, we’ll also learn about the trauma they’ve experienced in their lives.
Binding 13 and Keeping 13 are about Johnny Kavanagh, Tommen College’s star rugby player, and shy new student Shannon Lynch. The following two books, Saving 6 and Redeeming 6, focus on Shannon’s brother, Joey, and his love, Aoife. On May 15, Prime Video shared photos of the actors playing the two main couples. Boys of Tommen is each of their biggest roles to date, so we did a deep dive into their backgrounds.
“We searched far and wide, receiving over 3000 casting suggestions from across the UK and Ireland, but from the moment Nancy, Conor, James and Sophie walked into the room, it was clear we’d found something beyond special,” said Boys of Tommen director Brendan Canty, per Advanced Television. “Each of them brings the spirit and emotional depth this story demands, and I couldn’t be more excited to bring Chloe’s world to the screen with this extraordinary young cast.”

“I can’t say [acting] was ever a grand childhood ambition,” Sánchez said. “I did the school shows, mostly for the craic, but I never thought of acting as a tangible career. However, after a year of realizing biology at Queen’s University Belfast wasn’t exactly my destiny, I auditioned for a professional theatre company at The Playhouse in Derry. To my surprise, they cast me – and even paid me a few quid. That was it: I got the bug from there.”
