Omigod, you guys! We need to debrief!

Elle Season 1 is finally here, and while we know Emmett (Luke Wilson) ends up proposing to Elle (Reese Witherspoon) at the end of Legally Blonde, this Gemini (well…) has a lot of life and love to live before she settles down. During the first season of the prequel series, Elle (Lexi Minetree) connected with both Dustin (Zac Looker), the brooding British boy with a knack for social justice, and Miles (Jacob Moskovitz), the high school’s track star who is definitely heading towards a yearnalism degree in college. (Warning: Spoilers ahead!)

That said, Team Dustin and Team Miles weren’t the only ships to sail this season. Elle Woods famously has a pretty mid gaydar, but she was spot on when she clocked that Kimberly (Chandler Kinney) and Liz’s (Gabrielle Policano) bad blood was really romantic tension. However, no one could have predicted their full summer camp backstory. Here’s to hoping for a Season 2 flashback!

While no one made things official this season — after all, this is high school! — we’re breaking down every kiss, breakup, and flirty connection below.

Elle & Miles

Status: Elle’s first kiss

The second Elle landed in Seattle, she settled into a major crush on the school’s track star, Miles. Unfortunately, she quickly found out that Miles was dating her only potential friend at the school, Shannon (Danielle Chand).

While Elle technically kissed Miles after he and Shannon broke up, she still felt horrible about the whole thing. To make matters worse, after deciding to “own it,” Elle found out that Shannon’s mom died in a car accident.

This season, Elle and Miles never go beyond that first kiss, but that doesn’t stop the duo from their mutual pining, even though Elle says no to Miles’ invite to the formal. At the end of the season, Miles looks on — yearnfully, we might add — as Elle kisses someone else.

Shannon & Miles

Status: Broken up

After two years together, Shannon broke up with Miles, shortly before he kissed Elle. Revealing their split, Shannon told Elle, “Miles and I broke up last night. It’s fine. I’m fine. Ever since I got back from my New York trip this summer, it’s been strange.” She added, “I feel like he was almost relieved when I dumped him.”

At Shannon’s mom’s Rainforest Cafe memorial, Miles confessed that he kissed Elle. He explained, “I felt like a d**k being here, keeping a secret from you… To be fair, you broke up with me.” Not the best move, Miles…

“That’s why you’ve been so weird,” Shannon fired back. “You started liking Elle and she’s just, what? Letting you kiss her?”

Elle & Dustin

Status: Fake dated, real kissed

At the start of the season, Elle decided to tell Kimberly that she was dating Dustin to convince her that she doesn’t have a crush on Miles, and for some reason, he was totally okay with it.

While the two seemed pretty adversarial at the start of the season, it became clear that they might be more alike than either would care to admit. After watching their adorable karaoke performance together, we were definitely shipping these two.

At the end of the season, Elle and Dustin shared a kiss at the Informal. Dustin was clearly hurt by Elle’s Cosmopolitan article, but her leaving after asking him to the dance left him even more confused. Now, he’s made his feelings known to Elle… And Miles.

Liz & Kimberly

Status: Summer camp hookup to enemies to lovers?

At the start of the season, it seemed like Kimberly and Liz didn’t like each other just for kicks. However, Elle quickly came to notice that the two have a shared history by connecting the link between their identical camp bracelets. (Wow, she should be a lawyer.)

During the Season 1 finale, the two finally confronted their feelings. Liz spilled that Kimberly hooked up with her at summer camp, but then “made sure no one ever, ever found out.” But don’t worry, through all the ignoring, Kimberly has been secretly pining, keeping a stack of Liz’s zines in her bedside drawer and listening to a copy of her tape.

Backstage before Liz’s performance at the Informal, the two shared a kiss (and then another), foreshadowing what we hope is a phenomenal Season 2 romance.

Madison & Dustin

Status: Made out in the Rainforest Cafe bathroom

Honestly, that status kind of says it all. Despite harboring a major crush on Elle, Dustin shared a moment with her best friend, Madison (Jessica Belkin)… At the Rainforest Cafe… Near the animatronic elephant. We just hope Tracy Tree didn’t see them, too.
