Your ‘Muppet Show’ Relationships Guide: Meet All the Muppet Couples

Muppets fans, we are so back it’s not even funny. We don’t want to hear any laughing.

As any theater lover knows, nobody is immune to a little showmance — even if their catchphrase is “Hi ho! Kermit the Frog here.” That being said, while everyone loves Kermit and Miss Piggy’s chaotic connection, this frog and pig pairing isn’t the only couple to come out of The Muppet Show. Now that Seth Rogen has revived the “most sensational inspirational, celebrational, Muppetational” variety show in television history, we’re looking back at all of the Muppet love stories that have made us swoon throughout the years.

We know what you’re thinking: Are there really that many Muppet couples? Are there any rainbow connections? Are Statler and Waldorf single? (Obviously, asking that one for a friend.) Don’t worry Swooon‘s answering all these questions and more before you tune into The Muppet Show on February 4.

Sound off in the comments below with your favorite Muppet relationship! We know you have one. Mouples forever

The Muppet Show, Premieres, Wednesday, February 4, 9/8c, ABC & Disney+

Kermit and Miss Piggy

Kermit the Frog & Miss Piggy

While Miss Piggy and her Kermie were once our OTP, the couple actually broke up in 2015. Ahead of The Muppets, the couple revealed that they were no longer together. Miss Piggy wrote, “Dating moi is like flying close to the sun. It was inevitable that Kermit would drop down to the ground while I stayed in the heavens.” Kermit revealed it was Miss Piggy who pulled the plug, sharing, “After careful thought, thoughtful consideration and considerable squabbling, Miss Piggy made the difficult decision to terminate our romantic relationship.” Perhaps that explains the tension between the two during their interview with our sister site, TV Insider.

Janice and Floyd Muppets
Disney

Janice & Floyd Pepper

If you still think about Billy and Daisy from Daisy Jones & The Six literally all the time (we know we do), we have no doubt that Sgt. Floyd Pepper and Janice from Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem are “fer sure” your favorite Muppet couple. While the couple had been seen together quite a bit through the years, Floyd confirmed that Janice is his “main squeeze” during a 2017 Valentine’s Day video on The Muppet’s YouTube Channel.

Camilla the Chicken and Gonzo Muppets
Disney

Camilla the Chicken & Gonzo

Everyone’s favorite chicken and undisclosed birdlike animal, Camilla and Gonzo, went on their first date during Season 3 of the original Muppet Show. Gonzo’s always had a thing for chickens, but once he met Camilla, it was clear there was only one hen for him. After watching her rendition of “Forget You” by CeeLo Green, you might fall for the poultry princess, too.

Rizzo the Rat and Yolanda the Rat
Disney

Rizzo the Rat & Yolanda the Rat

While we’d call this one more of a situationship than a full-on thing, there is definitely something going on between Rizzo and Yolanda (both rats). Yolanda was first introduced during The Muppets Take Manhattan. After ignoring Rizzo’s flirting, she ultimately gave in and started dating him. A girl boss in her own right, Yolanda took on a bigger role in The Muppets, where she served as Kermit’s assistant.

Waldorf and Astoria Muppets
Disney

Waldorf & Astoria

While Statler appears to be single, one half of The Muppet Show‘s resident curmudgeons is married. Waldorf’s wife, Astoria, who looks exactly like Statler, appeared only once, during Season 3 of The Muppet Show, in the episode featuring Dizzy Gillespie. When asked about Astoria on AskHensen.com, Muppets writer Jim Lewis shared, “Astoria was married to Waldorf some time ago. We were unable to reach Astoria for more details, and Waldorf cannot remember anything past last Tuesday, for which he is eternally grateful.”

Beaker and Dr. Bunsen Honeydew in IT'S A VERY MERRY MUPPET CHRISTMAS MOVIE
Everett Collection

Dr. Bunsen Honeydew & Beaker

This is a duo that has piqued the interest of Muppet historians for quite some time. While Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker aren’t officially in a relationship, their dynamic is left ambiguous on purpose. The two even switch outfits (a la Chad and Ryan in High School Musical 2) during The Muppets. When asked why, Bunsen tells Beaker, “If it happens outside of work, we don’t owe ’em an explanation!”

Wayne and Wanda of The Muppet Show
Disney

Wayne & Wanda

If you were to ask Sam Eagle who his favorite Muppet duo is, he would tell you about the “wholesome, uplifting, and decent” couple, Wayne and Wanda. The couple was seemingly fired by Kermit after Season 1 of The Muppet Show, as their musical performances always ended in disaster shortly after the first verse of their duet. Here’s to hoping Wayne and Wanda will make their triumphant return during the revival.
