On April 20, 2026, the star-studded Devil Wears Prada cast reunited on the red carpet of their sequel two decades in the making, proving that a lot more has changed between 2006 and 2026 than just the fashion trends. If you’re a romance lover who hasn’t seen the masterpiece that is The Devil Wears Prada, where have you been?! Let’s get you caught up!

The movie follows Andrea “Andie” Sachs, an aspiring journalist, played by Anne Hathaway, who scores a job as a second assistant at Runway magazine. There, she meets workaholic first assistant Emily (Emily Blunt) and stylish art director Nigel (Stanley Tucci), who both work under the magazine’s infamously difficult editor-in-chief, Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep). From tracking down a manuscript of J.K. Rowling’s next Harry Potter to the oversaturation of fashion-forward hats, the movie is a flawless time capsule of the mid-2000s wrapped in a cerulean sweater.

Ahead of the film’s 20th anniversary, Andie, Miranda, and the rest of the 2006 Runway team are returning to our screens for the long-awaited sequel, aptly titled The Devil Wears Prada 2. While the plot has largely been kept under wraps, the logline reveals that the film will follow Miranda Priestly as she nears retirement, reuniting with Andie Sachs “to face off against her former assistant turned rival: Emily Charlton.”

Anne Hathaway

After making it big in The Princess Diaries and Ella Enchanted, Hathaway scored the leading role in The Devil Wears Prada after nine other actresses passed on the part. At the original premiere, Hathaway was just 23, sporting a low-cut, floor-length red dress. Twenty years later, Hathaway brought back her red look, this time wearing a dropwaist Louis Vuitton gown.

Meryl Streep

Streep first portrayed Miranda Priestly at 56, hitting the carpet in an off-white two-piece with a matching shawl. At the original premiere, she was joined by all three of her children: Mamie Gummer, Grace Gummer, and Louisa Jacobson. Today, she channeled her inner Miranda, wearing a red Givenchy cape with black leather gloves and some shades.

Stanley Tucci

In 2006, Tucci hit the carpet with his first wife, Kate Tucci. At the time, he was 45, having recently starred in Maid in Manhattan and The Terminal. Much like Streep, he attended the sequel premiere wearing a pair of sunglasses that perfectly complemented his dark velvet suit.

Emily Blunt

In 2006, Emily Blunt was also 23, with just one film credit from 2004’s My Summer of Love. She took the red carpet in a pink knee-length dress, with her then-boyfriend Michael Bublé by her side. Two decades later, Blunt stunned in a tiered, baby pink Schiaparelli gown.
