Each week, the power shifted, and the game changed thanks to a $500,000 cash prize up for grabs, as well as a different format being introduced during Week 5. At that point, all the couples remaining on the beach were put to the test with relationship challenges that tested their compatibility, with the winners being declared safe at the subsequent rose ceremony.
However, everyone else was on the chopping block, and their fate was left in the hands of their fellow contestants, leading to some shocking votes and even some self-eliminations.

Jonathon Johnson & Lea Cayanan
Eliminated: Week 8
By Week 8, there were two couples left who didn’t have a romantic relationship: Jonathon Johnson and Lea Cayanan, and Kathy Swarts and Keith Gordon. The men had the roses this week, and after the group vote, it was a tie between Keith and Jonathon for who wouldn’t get a rose.
In the event of a tie, the winner of that week’s relationship challenge got to make the final decision. Since Dale was the male victor in Week 8 (he won with partner Kat Izzo), the choice was in his hands.
He decided to save Keith, who gave his rose to Kathy, which meant Jonathon and Lea were eliminated.
