Joan Vassos Gets Engaged in Shocking ‘Golden Bachelorette’ Finale
[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for The Golden Bachelorette finale.]
Joan Vassos began her journey to find her next great love with 25 men in the Bachelor mansion. After a heartfelt prom group date, a memorable kickball game, and plenty of romantic moments, Joan faced a devastating blow in Tahiti when Pascal Ibgui left the show. He told Joan he wasn’t in love with her, making her feel “unlovable.”
A vulnerable Joan wondered if she was worthy of finding love a second time. After a heart-to-heart with The Golden Bachelor alum Nancy, Joan decided to move forward with her final two: Chock Chapple and Guy Gansert.
So, who did she choose? Did she walk away alone? The final chapter of Joan’s Golden Bachelorette journey unfolded in the Season 1 finale.
Chock was the first finalist to meet two of Joan’s kids, Nicholas and Allison. The insurance executive admitted that his daughter signed him up for the show. His daughter knew that Joan would be the perfect woman for him. Chock was open about his love for Joan and told her kids he wanted to “spend my life with her.” Both Nicholas and Allison gave their approval.
Chock remained confident about his relationship with Joan, but he knew Guy was still a part of the picture. “I wish Guy the best, but I really don’t,” he said. During their one-on-one date, Chock professed his love for Joan. “I’m crazy about you. I want to marry you, and I want to spend my life with you,” she said.
The next day, Guy was excited about his final date with Joan and the opportunity to meet her family. But Joan? Not so much. She realized that she’d already made her decision. She found love with Chock and knew she had to break up with Guy.
“I’m here to tell you my heart belongs to somebody else,” Joan told Guy, who was very upset. Guy admitted, “I felt so good today. I fell in love with you, and I was ready to let it all out.” He was left “devastated” and “heartbroken” by the turn of events.
After breaking up with Guy, Joan looked ahead to her future with Chock. “I’m in love with Chock, and I want to spend the rest of my life with him,” she said. On the beach in Tahiti, Joan finally told Chock that she loved him, the first time she’d said that to a man since her late husband. Chock got down on one knee and proposed to Joan, and she happily accepted! “I’m the luckiest guy in the world,” Chock declared.
During After the Final Rose, Guy said he was convinced that he would end up with Joan. He sat down with Joan for the first time since their breakup, and he got the clarity he needed.
Joan and Chock then stepped out as a couple for the first time since Tahiti. Chock gushed (once again) over how “crazy” he is about Joan. Host Jesse Palmer gifted the couple with a vacation to Walt Disney World with their families.
