‘The Rookie’ First Look: Will Chenford’s Feelings Ignite in Valentine’s Day Episode? (PHOTOS)
You can’t deny the love! Tim Bradford (Eric Winter) and Lucy Chen (Melissa O’Neil) may be broken up in The Rookie‘s Valentine’s Day episode in Season 7 (airing February 11), but the feelings are clearly still there. Just look at Swooon‘s exclusive photos!
Fan-favorite couple Chenford’s relationship ended in Season 6 when Tim broke things off. When his military past came back to haunt him, he kept it from her until it had been too long. In the end, he lied to IA (both to save his own job and to protect her) and after betraying “everything I thought was right about myself,” he ended their relationship. “You deserve so much better. That’s why I’m walking away,” he explained. But it does feel like this season could be slowly building up to a reunion.

“By the end of last season, Tim and Lucy had worked through a lot of the emotional damage Tim caused by blowing up their relationship,” executive producer Alexi Hawley told our sister site TV Insider. “It was important to us to come into Season 7 with a sense of positivity, of them having gotten to a place where the old dynamics could start to kick back in — while they try and navigate whether there’s a way back to what they had.”
Now, Tim and Lucy will be working together on an unromantic assignment in “The Gala,” the season’s episode for the swoonworthy holiday. And in that episode, Winter shared on TV Insider’s Booked: The Rookie Aftershow that there is “a very tricky situation … a moment” between the two.

“These two have never stopped caring about each other. So you put two people in a compromising, weird position, and feelings come out. Maybe a little bit of their thoughts come out,” he hinted. “I can tease that you’re going to get a moment where they have to check themselves.”
He added that the breakup wasn’t “because they stopped loving each other. They broke up because Tim didn’t feel he was good enough for her.”
Plus, might there be a new romance at a charity gala? If Wesley (Shawn Ashmore) has any say, yes! He’s very much on board with Angela’s (Alyssa Diaz) plan for Graham (Ivan Hernandez), and that’s no surprise, given he knows of the detective’s attraction to his wife.
