Get to Know ‘Love Is Blind’ Breakout Daniel Hastings Amid Season 8 Instagram Scandal
Former Gerber baby Daniel Hastings has been on quite a wild ride throughout his time on Love Is Blind Season 8 star. Bonding with match Taylor Haag over Taco Bell, Christmas, and religion, the two seem to be a match made in heaven — or at least until the Instagram scandal.
When Taylor first brought up #InstagramGate, things began to change with Daniel. He’s denied following Taylor before the show, but will his words be enough?. What does Daniel do for a living?
Daniel might not fit the 6-foot-5 description, but he sure is a man in finance. The sales account executive works at Popular Equipment Finance, a financing and leasing company based in Edina, Minnesota. Besides his current employment, not much else is known about his job history.
Where is Daniel from?
Daniel lives in Minneapolis. He makes this clear on his social media pages by stating his location in his bio and also tagging his whereabouts.
The 30-year-old appears to have lived in the same area his entire life. A proud Midwesterner, he has been posting from within the Minnesota state lines for quite some time.
What has Daniel said about his family?
Because of his super tight relationship with his parents, Daniel is proud to mention that it is actually his parent’s happy marriage that brought him to Love Is Blind. He wants to find a marriage just like theirs. Going onto their 35th year of marriage, Daniel’s parents certainly have done something right. Daniel often praises his parents for making him the man he is today.
Clearly close to his dad, Daniel likes to showcase their bond on Instagram. In 2020, he even posted some snapshots of his parents’ wedding day while mentioning how “legendary” his dad is. He captioned it, “Which is more legendary… That hair? Or bare-footing in your wedding tux with the signed marriage license still in your pocket… pls let me know. Happy Father’s Day old man💪🏼.”

He also opened up about his sister in the pods. “My sister was born blind,” Daniel revealed. “She just loves people without seeing them. If I could just be a little bit like her, that’d be cool.”
Did Daniel follow Taylor on Instagram?
No, he did not. However, for a while there, Taylor really believed that he did. Daniel claimed that he had never followed her on Instagram. They one of the only couples to bring up the social media platform in the pods.
After meeting him face-to-face when he proposed, Taylor had a feeling she had seen him somewhere before. Not being able to shake that feeling off, she suddenly got an overwhelming feeling that he had once followed her on Instagram. The nurse even revealed she had a clear vision of one of his posts — a picture of him in front of a Christmas tree.
Yet, this was enough proof for Daniel to know that the account wasn’t his. He posted a similar photo — of him clad in holiday gear while sitting in front of a fireplace — but it wasn’t the photo Taylor remembered.

Another year, he posed in a bath with a small Christmas tree behind him. Did Taylor perhaps combine the two photos into one? The two do, after all, share an affinity toward the December holiday.

He also said, “Seeing the doors open was the first time that I saw what you looked like. I had no idea.” As the conversation went on, Daniel admitted that he could’ve “followed and unfollowed” her but doesn’t understand why he would’ve done that.
But as Taylor investigated through an app, she concluded that Daniel didn’t follow her before the show after all. Another one of the men of the season, maybe? They all look very similar. Daniel reassured Taylor that his feelings hadn’t changed and that he didn’t want her to “feel crazy.”
Are Daniel and Taylor still together?
As of now, they sure are!
This is definitely a good thing. The duo had so much in common and seemed to hit it off from the second they met. It would have been a shame to throw it all away for a false Instagram slip-up.
Luckily, production allowed Taylor to check her phone, and they continued their journey as an engaged couple on Love Is Blind.
In a confessional, Taylor divulged that she was scared the connection between them had a jumpstart because he knew everything about her “physically.” Yet, after investigating she concluded, “But it wasn’t. I’m crazy.”
