Ben and Erin Napier have become one of HGTV’s most beloved couples. The pair has been dedicated to their partnership, on and off camera, since they married in 2008.

The Napiers have since welcomed two daughters, Helen, 7, and Mae, 4, who have transformed their world. The Home Town Takeover stars shared rare details about their family in a new interview.

“We both have shifted our focus to the girls completely, which is something that is crazy because neither one of us were like… we weren’t looking to have kids,” Ben said on the That Sounds Fun podcast. “It’s not that we didn’t want kids.” Erin added, “I wanted to, but I was scared.”

Ben continued, “And I was of the mindset, you know, I grew up with three brothers. I have lots of nieces and nephews. If you want to, great. If you don’t, we’ll be good. But I cannot imagine a second that they don’t exist.”

Erin admitted that she is constantly worried about her kids. “Having young children is all-consuming,” she said.

Ben brought up how Erin’s OB-GYN doctor goes to church with them. Before they had kids, Ben revealed Erin spoke with the doctor because she was “terrified of having kids because she was worried about what might happen.” While Erin does most of the worrying, Ben was candid about never having anxiety until he had kids.

The HGTV couple has created a loving and supportive family unit at home. Erin revealed in a previous interview that Ben tends to the gardens on the family’s farm.”That’s a romantic gesture to me,” Erin told Us Weekly. “He makes sure we have something fresh I can [harvest] to cook.”
