From Ana Huang’s Twisted series to pretty much anything penned by Penelope Douglas, dark romance books have entered the mainstream. We had a feeling the subgenre would make its way from the page to the screen sooner rather than later — and right on cue, we found out Mindf*ck is getting the adaptation treatment.

On June 4, it was announced that Amazon MGM Studios will develop the late S.T. Abby’s 2019 psychological thriller-romance. “This story means everything to me,” producer Sophia Stallone shared in an Instagram post. “To the fans, who love this story fiercely: I see you. I am you. This one’s for all of us.”

It’ll likely be a while before we see the book, which follows a serial killer who becomes entangled with an FBI profiler, come to life. In the meantime, we looked for every detail out there about the adaptation and put them all in one place. Without further ado, here’s everything we know so far about the Mindf*ck TV series.

What is Mindf*ck about?

In short, if you’re a fan of Dexter and Killing Eve, there’s a good chance you’ll be on board with this story. The first of five books in the Mindf*ck series, The Risk features a dual POV. Lana is a vigilante — aka a serial killer — who’s out to get revenge against the men who assaulted her and destroyed her family. Logan is the FBI agent charged with hunting her down. They fall in love, but Logan doesn’t know that she’s his target.

When is Mindf*ck coming out?

Mindf*ck doesn’t have a premiere date just yet. Since it was only recently announced, the show is likely still in the early days of development, though Stallone revealed on Instagram that the adaptation has been in the works for years. According to Deadline, the production is still looking for a showrunner.

Who’s been cast in Mindf*ck?

There’s no casting news yet, but we’re keeping our eyes glued to Sophia Stallone’s social media for any announcements. We’ll update you as soon as we know more! (Let us know if you have ideas for the cast in the comments below!)

Who is making the Mindf*ck show?

Sylvester Stallone’s daughter, Sophia, is at the helm of the adaptation as an executive producer. She’s attached to her dad’s company, Balboa Productions, which has a first-look deal with Amazon Studios. Mindf*ck is her first producing credit, according to IMDb, though she’s known for co-hosting the podcast Unwaxed with her sister and running an online book club.

“I was a fan long before I became a producer, and now I’m fighting for Lana’s story like it’s my own,” Stallone told Deadline. “We’re not watering it down. We’re telling this story the way the author always intended — raw, fearless, and unforgettable. We owe that to the fans. And to S.T. Abby.”

Alongside her are executive producers Erin Simon, Matt Berenson, and D. Matt Geller for Balboa Productions, and Tonya Owens Houle.
