Are ‘Deadliest Catch’s Sig Hansen & Wife June Still Together? Their Relationship Now
Sig Hansen is back to braving the rough seas on another season of Deadliest Catch. When he’s not out crab fishing, though, Sig is a dedicated family man.
He married June Hansen more than 20 years ago, and they built a family together, but what is the status of their relationship now? Scroll down for everything we know about the pair.
Are Sig and June Hansen still together?
Yes, Sig and June are still together. While promoting Season 21 of Deadliest Catch, Sig referenced his “wife” in various interviews.
Notably, he gave an update about June’s health following her reported cancer diagnosis in 2019. “She’s solvent. She did have potential cancer, but we got through that,” Sig told Parade. “So she’s very cautious of her health, and she’s working out every day. We have a swimming pool at home. So when we’re home, she’s swimming. But it is Seattle, so [swimming] when it’s not raining. I try to keep up with her. She’d beat me every time!”
He also noted in an interview with People that he’s starting to think about retirement so he can spend more time with his family. “I’ve been there, done that, and now I want to spend more time with my family, my wife,” he shared. “Look at all the years and decades that she’s given up for me waiting. It’s got to go the other way, and so you see things differently, that’s all.”
In the Parade Q&A, he noted that June comes from a family of fishermen and added, “I believe we’re a great fit. She’s tougher than she looks, and she is very supportive. But at the end of the day, I want to spend more time with her. I feel like she’s given so much to me. When you go to sea, when I was younger, we were gone for oh, my God, sometimes six months at a stretch, sometimes eight to ten months out of a year. And so it’s time to pay back. Maybe that’s just old age, I don’t know. But I feel like I owe her so much and I don’t know how to repay her.”
He also joked, “I should be on a beach in Hawaii with my wife right now! We’ll get to it.”
Do Sig and June Hansen have kids?
Yes, Sig and June are parents to two adopted daughters, Mandy Hansen and Nina Hansen. They have four grandchildren.

Sig also has a daughter named Melissa Eckstrom with first wife, Lisa Eckstrom. Melissa previously accused her father of sexually abusing her when she was a child. He denied the claims, and there were never criminal charges brought against him. “We have concluded that it’s outside our charging standards and we’re going to maintain our original decision not to charge Mr. Hansen,” the deputy prosecutor told Seattle Times in 2017.
Melissa was able to move forward with her civil case in 2018, but the outcome has not been publicized.
Where do Sig and June Hansen live?
In addition to their home in Seattle, the Hansens also have a place in Norway. Additionally, his family owns an events center in Norway where they host weddings, concerts, and more.
