HGTV’s Erin Napier Reveals Unexpected Secret to Her Marriage With Ben Napier

Home Town‘s Erin and Ben Napier continue to be an HGTV power couple. They’ve been married for almost 18 years and have built a solid foundation as partners — on TV and off.
In a new interview, Erin shared new insight into her marriage with Ben. Erin candidly revealed exactly what keeps “conflict” out of their relationship.
“The secret to mine and Ben’s marriage, the reason I think we have a happy marriage with very, very little conflict, is that I don’t let myself tell stories about him,” Erin said on The Heirloom podcast. “I just say it. I say it right to him. ‘Are you doing this? Are you thinking that?’ And he says right back to me what he’s really doing and thinking. We’re together all day, so it’s very easy for us to do that, but our communication level cuts out my creativity in a very good, positive way.”
The 41-year-old admitted she is “extremely thankful” for Home Town, the hit HGTV series that she hosts with her husband. One of the main reasons she loves the show so much is that it’s been “training” for her and Ben to “all day, every day, speak to each other and speak to each other with kindness. So when we get home, we still do. We never talk to each other in a way that I wouldn’t want filmed.”
Ben and Erin have continued that “training” as they’ve filmed more Home Town episodes, which will premiere in 2026. The Napiers also have a new spinoff, Home Town: Inn This Together, which will feature the couple joining forces with their family and friends to restore the dilapidated 1930 Kress building in downtown Laurel.
While Ben and Erin stay in the public eye because of their HGTV careers, they have kept their children out of the spotlight. They share two daughters, Helen and Mae. “My kids are the most important thing that we’ve made,” Erin said on the podcast.
