‘Off Campus’: Who Is Playing Dean Di Laurentis? Meet Stephen Kalyn
We’re already counting down the days until Dean Di Laurentis graces our screens in Off Campus. Every one of Elle Kennedy’s hockey boys has a special place in our heart — including Season 1 lead Garrett Graham (Belmont Cameli) — but we’re Dean girls through and through here at Swooon.
Dean’s season, which would follow the events of Kennedy’s The Score, can’t arrive fast enough. Prime Video has renewed the show for Season 2, and has yet to confirm the leading couple and when it comes out. There’s still a while to go until we know more, so what better way to occupy ourselves than by doing a deep dive into Stephen Kalyn? Who is the 27-year-old actor who’s bringing the Hawks’ D-man to life? Find out below.
Who does Stephen Kalyn play in Off Campus?
As you know by now, Kalyn plays the legend himself: Dean Sebastian Kendrick Heyward-Di Laurentis. Dean is one of the four main guys in Kennedy’s Off Campus series, which takes after Bridgerton and features a new couple’s story in every book. Dean, Garrett, Tucker (Jalen Thomas Brooks), and Logan (Antonio Cipriano) are best friends and roommates, and they’re the star players of Briar University’s hockey team.
Though each of the guys has their charms, Dean is the known ladies’ man of the bunch. (We’ll keep it PG, but let’s just say that Dean gets around.) Dean comes from a super-rich (but super-loving) family, so he’s used to getting what he wants, especially when it comes to girls. But don’t let his reputation fool you: Dean has a heart of gold, and he’s unfailingly loyal to his friends. He’s also seriously smart.

What has Stephen Kalyn been in before?
Kalyn is a Prime Video prince, having appeared in three of the streamer’s shows ahead of Off Campus. First, he played a frat president in the Cruel Intentions reboot. His character, Rourke, was Caroline’s (Sarah Catherine Hook) ex-boyfriend. Next up was Motorheads. Kalyn played the younger version of Ryan Phillippe‘s Logan in flashbacks. He has several movie credits: Out Standing, Violence, Paying For It, and Whistle. The latter is a horror flick starring Dafne Keene and Sophie Nélisse. Kalyn has worked in the thriller genre, too; alongside Ginny & Georgia‘s Sara Waisglass, the actor led 2023’s Cascade, which you can find on Prime Video.

Kalyn hails from Toronto, Canada, which explains all of the Canadian projects he’s acted in.
Does Stephen Kalyn play hockey?
Kalyn is the only member of the core four with hockey experience, having played the sport all his life. He’s used his hockey skills on screen before in CBC’s 2023 limited series, Essex County. He was part of the ensemble nominated for a Canadian Screen Award.
There’s more evidence that the actor knows his stuff: Off Campus‘ Instagram account uploaded a video of the main four guys being quizzed on hockey slang. Kalyn knew the first answer immediately, which prompted Cameli to say, “Let us answer first.” Cipriano added, “You’ll just give us the answers.”

The Off Campus actor is off the market. He hasn’t spoken publicly about his dating life, but he is in a relationship with Victoria Lovatsis. They’ve been dating since 2012. In 2017, she posted on Instagram about their fifth anniversary.
