‘Love Is Blind’: Why Wasn’t Edmond Harvey’s Mom at His Wedding?
[Warning: The following contains MAJOR spoilers for Love Is Blind Season 9, Episodes 1-12.]
During the Season 9 finale of Love Is Blind, fans were shocked to find out that one major person in Edmond Harvey‘s life was not present at his wedding, even though she had made an appearance earlier in the season.
While Edmond shared an emotional moment with his fifth-grade teacher, who walked him down the aisle on his wedding day, fans were quick to question why his mom, Kerry, was not in attendance. Now that we know Edmond and his fiancée, Kalybriah Haskin, didn’t tie the knot, we’re looking back at their wedding day and answering all of your burning questions.
Why wasn’t Edmond’s mom at his wedding?
On Edmond and Kalybriah’s wedding day, Edmond told Kalybriah’s mom that his own mother could not make it, blaming some “personal things” that took priority. During his conversation with Kalybriah’s mom, Edmond explained, “My mom couldn’t make it. So that’s been like a whole thing. But it wasn’t ’cause of Kalybriah or anything like that. She got like a couple personal things going on.”
Later, on the verge of tears, he told viewers, “I’m so sad she didn’t come. I just wish she was here. I wouldn’t be here on my wedding day if it wasn’t for her. So I really want her to be here.” At this time, the specific reason why Kerry could not make it has not been revealed.

Did anyone from Edmond’s family attend the wedding?
While his mom, Kerry, could not make it, Edmond’s dad was in attendance at his wedding. When Kalybriah’s mom asked Edmond who else from his life was coming to their wedding, he shared, “My rollerblading community and stuff. And then I got my fifth-grade teacher and her husband.”
Before Kalybriah said “no” at the altar, viewers got to witness a sweet moment between Edmond and his former teacher, Jessie, who he revealed helped him out both in and out of school. She tutored him and brought him meals when he didn’t have dinner at home. “I was just in a world of just, like, not having a guardian,” he explained, “and she was like my guardian, my guardian angel, really.” During their time together before she walked him down the aisle, Jessie told him, “You can call me Mom, Mom Two, whatever.”

What happened with Edmond and his parents?
In the pods, Edmond admitted that he grew up in and out of foster care. The West Virginia native told Kalybriah had to stay with “random families” when his parents didn’t have custody of him and his brothers. However, he did not mention why his parents lost custody. Even though the foster system often separated Edmond from his parents and brothers, he remains close with his family. He shared, “I talk to them regularly. I love them so much.”
During an exclusive interview with Swooon, Kalybriah revealed that Kerry did not show up for her first appearance during the season, causing them to reschedule to the pancake meal in their apartment that we saw. According to Kalybriah, the first time around, Edmond told her, “I just feel like she’s never there for me, and she never shows up for me.”
Why did Edmond and Kalybriah split?
On their wedding day, Edmond enthusiastically said “yes” to a life with Kalybriah, but she could not give him the same response. When Kalybriah sat down with Swooon, she revealed, “I’m a nurturer in general. Like, that’s just who I am as an individual. I will just feed into a person. And then one day, I realized, ‘Wait, my cup is empty and yours is full.’”
She also admitted that Edmond refused to tell her what his salary was until after they got married. While it’s clear that the two did not get married, we’ll have to wait until the reunion to see if Edmond and Kalybriah have stayed in each other’s lives.
