Don’t let Brooke Williamson‘s new bling fool you: She and boyfriend Bobby Flay have no plans to walk down the aisle.

Fans began speculating that Flay had popped the question when he shared a photo of a diamond ring on Williamson’s hand. Even though the Beat Bobby Flay star wrote that “it’s casual” in the since-expired Instagram Story, that didn’t stop the rumors from swirling.

You shouldn’t expect a proposal anytime soon — or ever. Flay opened up about his plans with Williamson in the December 1 episode of his Bobby on the Beat podcast. Williamson appeared in the episode alongside her boyfriend, who shut down the rumors. “For me, I think it’s important to set the record straight for you because I have so much respect for you, and I want you to be treated that way,” he prefaced.

The chef acknowledged that he gave his girlfriend, whom he’s been dating since early 2025, a diamond ring, but they’ve already talked about where they stand when it comes to marriage. “Marriage is not a thing that interests us,” he explained. “I’ve tried it a few times, and I’m good where I am now. I wanted to give that to you because I wanted to show my commitment to you in general.”

Flay has been married three times. He and fellow chef Debra Ponzek were married from 1991 to 1993. Two years later, he said “I do” to Kate Connelly, but they also went their separate ways after three years. Most recently, Flay was married to actress Stephanie March, whom he divorced in 2015. They’d been together for a decade.

While Flay said outsiders might find his gift to Williamson silly or unnecessary, he still views the jewelry as a symbol of them being “life partners.” He gushed, “To me, that’s the most important thing. Having you in my life has really been a special thing for me, for my friends, for my family. You’re spectacular.”

In 2024, Flay opened up about his stance on getting married again. “If you asked me today, I’d say, probably, [it’s off the table.] I don’t know,” he said on Kristin Cavallari‘s Let’s Be Honest podcast. “For me, it hasn’t been the best situation. That said, I don’t feel like I need to do it again… I would be interested in a life partner for sure. But I don’t think it necessarily needs the documentation.”
