On February 3, A24 released the official trailer for The Drama, a new romance feature film starring Robert Pattinson and Zendaya. The film follows a happily engaged couple as they are put to the test when an unexpected turn sends their wedding week off the rails. In the film’s first teaser, Pattinson and Zendaya appear anything but happy at their pre-wedding photoshoot. Now, the trailer has proven that the couple’s unease stems from a seemingly playful conversation with their friends.

What is A24’s The Drama about?
The Drama film follows Emma Harwood (Zendaya) and Charlie Thompson (Pattinson) as their wedding weekend is upended by unforeseen twists. The first teaser trailer reveals Emma and Charlie’s awkward encounter with a wedding photographer (Zoe Winters) who asks the couple to take some practice shots after she starts “sensing some nerves.”
When asked what his favorite thing about Emma is, Charlie tells the photographer, “She’s beautiful, funny, and she has the best laugh,” as the camera flashes to the couple’s moments together in an apartment. There, Charlie and Emma laugh while dancing together, and Emma tells Charlie, “This is very serious,” after pantsing him. Emma then reveals to the photographer that she loves that he’s “caring, understanding, open-minded.” As Emma speaks, the flashbacks continue, ending in a shot of Emma clapping Charlie in the face while they’re having sex. Looks like there is a lot more to this couple than meets the surface.
Looking ahead, the footage shows Emma and Charlie (separately) in deep distress on their wedding day. Spliced between images of the stunning reception, chairs are thrown, an alarm sounds, alcohol is chugged, blood is spilled, and a car almost hits the engaged couple. The only question is: What caused all this drama?

Now that they’re getting married, their married friends, played by Alana Haim and Mamoudou Athie, tell them that they revealed the “worst thing [they’ve] ever done” to their partner before they tied the knot.
As everyone laughs at each other’s morally grey stories, the night takes a turn when Emma reveals the worst thing she’s ever done.
