Zoey Deutch and Nick Robinson are back in the rom-com game! The Set It Up and Love, Simon stars are teaming up for Voicemails for Isabelle. It won’t be long until you can catch the actors in action, but Netflix shared some new photos to tide you over in the meantime.
Plus, Deutch and Robinson’s costar, Lukas Gage, teased the movie ahead of its premiere. “I think with People We Meet on Vacation and Voicemails for Isabelle, we’re in this rom-com renaissance that is what rom-coms used to be,” Gage told Swooon. “Like, Never Been Kissed and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, where it’s bringing back that nostalgic rom-com thing that we kind of shifted from a little bit, and now I think we’re back on course. The right rom-coms are back again. I’m telling you right now, these two movies are bangers.”
Gage was right on the People We Meet on Vacation front, so we have high hopes for Voicemails for Isabelle. Swooon has all the sneak peek photos, as well as the premiere date, plot, and more updates below.
What is Voicemails for Isabelle about?
Voicemails for Isabelle — which made the 2019 Black List of the best unproduced scripts in Hollywood — follows Jill in the wake of her sister’s death. Jill starts calling her sister’s old number and chronicling her messy life in California. Her hilarious updates wind up in Austin-based real estate agent Wes’ inbox when he’s assigned Isabelle’s old number.

“Grief and love are not opposites,” Robinson told People. “They say that grief is just love with nowhere to go. Jill’s capacity for one informs her capacity for the other. This is just as much of a love story between Jill and Isabelle as it is a love story between Jill and [my character] Wes.”
What is Voicemails for Isabelle’s release date?
Just in time for summer, the rom-com is coming to Netflix on June 19.

Harry Shum Jr., Ciara Bravo, Megan Danso, Toby Sandeman, Spencer Lord, and Gil Bellows round out the rest of the cast. Leah McKendrick, known for 2023’s Scrambled, doubles as the film’s writer and director, and she also has an on-screen role. The director promised People that Voicemails for Isabelle is “a love story between sisters. For all the fluttery romance and comedic hijinks, Jill recognizes true love because she’s already experienced it with Isabelle.”
