Josh Radnor will now be able to tell his own How I Met Your Mother story. On February 4, the actor revealed that he and his wife welcomed their first child a few months ago.
“Here’s what we know so far: His smile lights up the room,” the 51-year-old wrote on Instagram, sharing a few glimpses of the newest addition to his family. “He’s super observant and thoughtful. He gets hypnotized when I play him songs on the guitar. He thinks the word ‘baba ghanoush’ is hysterical. He’s a total delight and Jordana and I are thrilled he’s here.”

Who is Dr. Jordana Jacobs?
Jacobs is a Brooklyn-based psychologist, per the New York Times, and she’s only a subway ride from her family. She has a private practice there. The self-described “student of love, death, and everything in between” has a bachelor’s degree from Tufts University and a doctorate in clinical psychology from Long Island University, Brooklyn. She’s 13 years her husband’s junior.

How did Josh Radnor and Jordana Jacobs meet?
Not many people can say they met their future spouse while tripping on mushrooms, but Radnor and Jacobs can. They recalled their first encounter in their New York Times feature: They were at a 30-person, three-day sound meditation retreat in upstate New York. Once a psychedelic mixture was in all of their systems, Radnor and Jacobs lay on the floor in a large room, masks covering their eyes and meditation sounds playing.
Radnor heard a voice tell him, “That’s her. That’s your woman.”
On her part, Jacobs asked her heart what it had to tell her. “You know that man over there across the room, Josh?” it responded. “You’re drawn to him.”
They had met the previous night, when Radnor and Jacobs — both recovering from painful breakups — had talked for half an hour. “We just fell into a really easy, fun kind of getting-to-know-you session,” the actor said, explaining that they spoke of love and death.
Jacobs took an academic approach, which Radnor thought “was evidence of real depth.” He added, “I thought she was formidable.”

How long have Josh Radnor and Jordana Jacobs been together?
That trippy first meeting took place in February 2022. After that, they stayed in touch over the phone for about a month. Radnor was cast in the New York-based Fleishman Is in Trouble a couple of weeks later, and he took Jacobs on a dinner date. Their relationship officially got going, and they started considering marriage months later. They said “I do” in January 2024.
