On March 5, Variety revealed that the Normal People star would lead the film as Sadie Green. Published in 2022, Gabrielle Zevin‘s novel is described as a “modern love story” following friends Sadie and Sam Masur, who meet as children in a Los Angeles hospital. They reunite as college students and create a video game company, “finding an intimacy in digital storytelling that eludes them in their real lives.”
