Sometimes life forces you to drive down an unexpected path. In Hallmark’s latest spring flick, I’ll Be Seeing You, Amy’s (Stacey Farber) weekend plans with her grandmother, Vivien (Christine Ebersole), get thrown off course due to a work errand. They wind up on a road trip with Mark (Tyler Hynes), a charismatic activities director, that leads to unforgettable memories and life-changing self-discoveries.
Hynes pulls double duty as star and executive producer of I’ll Be Seeing You. Hallmark Channel is known for its delightful romances all throughout the year, but I’ll Be Seeing You shows that there isn’t just one map for a love story. From romantic to platonic to familial love, I’ll Be Seeing You celebrates connection in all its forms. Hynes and his costars spoke with Swooon about the inspiration behind the movie and working together on this adventure.
“I’ve been making these sort of style movies for a while, and I’ve had the privilege of sharing scenes with actors who’ve been doing it for a very long time and have so much to offer in terms of their talent and their wisdom,” Hynes said. “It’s always been my favorite days on set, movies like I’ll Be Seeing You, Paula Shaw, Elan [Ross Gibson] in Unexpected Christmas, so on and so forth. And so, for me, I’d always sort of quietly dreamed of a movie where that person might be center stage. And when I met Christine [Ebersole], I thought, well, here’s the opportunity of a lifetime to be able to selfishly watch her do her thing up close and personal for three weeks.”

Ebersole, sitting right next to Hynes in our Swooon studio, responded, “I just feel so blessed and so lucky and so fortunate to know this person because he’s always in charge, and shows great leadership qualities, kind of just can lead all the sheep along to the right place. You know that anytime you’re with Tyler, it’s gonna be a great time.”
Hynes and Ebersole had already worked together on Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story, and Farber was connected through Hynes’ co-producer. For the Degrassi alum, she was drawn to the role of Amy because of “the grandparent love that was in it because I’m close with my grandparents in real life. And it filmed in Victoria, Canada, which is stunning, so I was very happy to be on location there.”
One person close to Hynes’ heart who is in love with I’ll Be Seeing You happens to be his mother. She didn’t get to come to set, but Mama Hynes was able to read the script and see the movie ahead of its premiere. I’ll Be Seeing You has her full approval. “It’s her favorite one. Eat your heart out, Wise Men,” Hynes quipped.
When asked if he wants to continue producing movies like I’ll Be Seeing You, Hynes self-deprecatingly said, “I don’t have a lot to offer. And if I can find something that’s a little bit interesting that might be a new offering to folks, I try to take that opportunity.”
He added, “And seeing Christine in this position and a character like that portrayed center stage was something I selfishly always wanted to see. I do a pretty good job of listening, and so I’m going to continue to try to listen to the audience best I can, to find whatever might be a new, interesting offering to keep the space fun.”
