‘RHORI’: Are Kelsey Swanson & Her Boyfriend Still Together?
Kelsey Swanson’s unconventional relationship on The Real Housewives of Rhode Island has had viewers in a chokehold. Since the premiere episode, Kelsey has been open about her 10-year romance with an older man who spends half the year with another woman in Miami, and she gave a major update on the status of their relationship during the May 3 episode.
Being with this boyfriend has allowed Kelsey to have a luxurious lifestyle, affording her the opportunity to live in a massive mansion without having to work. However, Kelsey’s boyfriend, who is already a father to adult children, made it clear to her that he won’t have more kids or get married, which is something Kelsey has always wanted.
This left Kelsey grappling with whether or not it made sense for her to stay in this relationship, and she finally made her decision while filming RHORI. Scroll down for everything we know.
Are Kelsey Swanson and her boyfriend still together?
Kelsey and her boyfriend, who is speculated to be John Caprio, are no longer together. Kelsey revealed that she was ending the relationship and moving out of the mansion she shared with her boyfriend on the May 3 episode of RHORI, which was filmed during summer 2025.
The writing was on the wall for the breakup, as Kelsey previously admitted, “I want to have kids. I want to get married. And I feel like, you know, I’ll never get that where I’m at.” Kelsey also began contemplating how she could provide for herself by doing hair and makeup, which is something she’d been passionate about for years.
On the May 3 episode, Kelsey told Liz McGraw, “There’s nothing more I’m going to get out of this relationship or nothing that’s going to be different than what it is now.”
On the RHORI after show, Kelsey expanded on her reasoning for wanting to end the relationship. “I was always in constant fear of what I was going to find out next,” she explained, adding that she knew of her boyfriend’s reputation for dating multiple women, but that he still “hid everything” from her. “He’ll be like, ‘Oh, I’m going away,’ and then I find out there was also somebody else joining the trip,” she revealed.
Kelsey said her boyfriend “shut [her] right down” and told her not to “ask questions” when she started seeing rumors about his other relationships on Facebook. She also clarified that she wasn’t “OK” with him dating other women and that they never had a conversation about his lifestyle when they got together.
“That’s not something I signed up for,” she said. “It just happened to form into that. It took on a life of its own.”
Who is John Caprio?
While Kelsey still has not revealed the identity of her older boyfriend, fans did some major digging and found photos and videos of her with John at a wedding in 2024. DeuxMoi also reported that Kelsey’s boyfriend is the son of a “very well-known” judge in Rhode Island, and John’s father is the late Frank Caprio, a judge who starred on Caught in Providence.
John seemingly broke his silence on the speculation via his family’s law firm. His daughter Sophia, who works for the firm, appeared in a video set to Real Housewives music. In the clip, she picked seeds out of a lemon wedge, just like Kelsey did on an episode of the show.
“No comment. Just counsel,” the video was captioned. John and Sophia both would not comment on the relationship when asked by the Providence Journal.
Who is Kelsey Swanson’s other boyfriend?
Meanwhile, Kelsey had a second relationship of her own while she was seeing her boyfriend. She introduced viewers to Billy L’Europa on a recent episode of RHORI and explained, “Whenever I’m at, like, a function or event that has to do with my friends, I feel like my boyfriend’s never interested. But Bill’s very eager to show our relationship in public and claim me as his.”
Kelsey insisted that she was always very clear with Billy about her situation and admitted she was keeping him at “arm’s length” until she figured out what was going on in her relationship.
While Kelsey did not share too much about Billy, she did note that he is “very successful,” although she noted that he wouldn’t be able to provide her with the same lifestyle that her other boyfriend did.
