What To Know

  • David Tennant and his wife Georgia, both actors, share five children.
  • Several of their children are pursuing acting careers.
  • Olive Tennant appears in Rivals Season 2 alongside her father.

Acting is becoming the Tennant family business! David Tennant met his wife, fellow actor Georgia Tennant, on the set of BBC’s Doctor Who. While David was starring as the Tenth Doctor, Georgia played his genetically-engineered daughter in a 2008 episode. Off-screen, David and Georgia married three years later and now share five kids. More than one of them has caught the acting bug, just like their parents.

Most famously, Ty Tennant starred in HBO’s House of the Dragon, but his sister is making headlines, too. Olive Tennant is starring in Rivals Season 2 alongside her dad! David, Georgia, and Olive appeared at the Season 2 premiere on May 13, posing alongside each other on the red carpet. Swooon has done a deep dive into the Tennant kids, including their past acting roles, ages, and more.

Ty Tennant

Georgia welcomed her son, Ty, in 2002 when she was in a previous relationship. When Georgia and David married in 2011, he adopted Ty. “My baby is almost a year old, and I adopted my wife’s boy last year as well, so I became a father twice in six months,” David told Absolute Radio in 2012. “That’s got to be something of a record, hasn’t it?”

Ty’s first major role was in 2019’s Tolkien. He had guest roles in Doom Patrol and Around the World in 80 Days before starring as Tom in the War of the Worlds TV show. He then played a young Aegon Targaryen in House of the Dragon. Ty also acted alongside his dad in an episode of Good Omens.

Olive Tennant

Olive was born in 2011 to David and Georgia. Though Rivals may be the first time many see Olive’s acting chops — she’s playing her father’s on-screen daughter, Camilla — she’s also appeared in 2017’s You, Me and Him, which her dad also starred in. She also had a role in 2021’s Belfast, winning Best Newcomer 2022 at the National Film Awards for her performance.

Wilfred Tennant

Wilfred, who was born in 2013, is yet another actor in the family. Georgia confirmed that Wilfred uses they/them pronouns via social media. On their birthday last year, Georgia wrote, “Our kid is 12 today. 12 years of being exactly who they are. 12 years of challenging people’s perceptions, 12 years of forever changing ours. 12 years of being the smartest person in the room. And the funniest. 12 years of loving you. For who you are now and whomever you end up being. I am so glad you exist.”

Wilfred appeared as Sam in You, Me and Him alongside their sister. They also acted in an episode of BBC’s Casualty in 2022. Their next role is in the movie Ladies First, which stars Sacha Baron Cohen and Richard E. Grant.

Doris Tennant

Doris was born in 2015, and she’s appeared occasionally on her mom’s social media. On Doris’ birthday last year, Georgia wrote on Instagram, “10 whole years of our brown eyed baby. To know you is to know true effervescent love. You literally sparkle. Joy filled, kind, totally bonkers with the most beautiful soul. We are so beyond proud of what you’ve achieved. You are never to be underestimated.”

Birdie Tennant

Birdie came along in 2019. The youngest Tennant also got a post from Georgia on her birthday: “Number 5 is 5. And finally one who is all me. My face, my hair, my love of chocolate and boobs and funny. She’s the glue who holds us all together. The one the rest all flock to. The one who has us doing anything and all that she wishes.”
