John Travolta is premiering his directorial debut at the Cannes Film Festival, and with his daughter, Ella, starring in the film, it was only fitting that she was along for the ride. Ahead of the premiere on the evening of May 15, the duo hit the red carpet for Karma, which premiered earlier in the day.

The actor sported a black suit and white tie for the occasion and accessorized with a white beret. Ella looked stunning in a black velvet dress and gave retro vibes with her flipped hair and dangling silver earrings.

John’s film Propeller One-Way Night Coach is an adaptation of his own 1997 book of the same name. Ella stars in the family film alongside her father, Clark Shotwell, Kelly Eviston-Quinnett, and Olga Hoffmann.

According to a synopsis, the film is the story of a “young airplane enthusiast Jeff (Shotwell) and his mother (Eviston-Quinnett)” who “set off on a one-way cross country odyssey to Hollywood, which transforms a simple flight into the trip of a lifetime. Between airline meals, charming flight attendants (Ella and Hoffmann), unexpected stopovers, larger-than-life passengers, and a thrilling glimpse at first class, the journey unfolds in moments both magical and unexpected, charting the course for the boy’s future.”

While critics will get to see the movie at Cannes, it won’t be available to stream until May 29 on Apple TV.

Ella previously had acting roles in 2009’s Old Dogs and 2019’s The Poison Rose. Earlier this year, she starred in Alicia in Wonderland, and she also has credits in the upcoming projects Nice People and Black Tides.

The 26-year-old is John’s eldest daughter with late wife Kelly Preston, who died from breast cancer in 2020. The couple’s first son, Jett, died in 2009 when he was 16 years old. After his death, they welcomed son Benjamin in 2010.

While Benjamin is mostly still kept out of the spotlight, Ella is making her mark. She has also begun dabbling in modeling and recently released a song called “Colors of Love” under the name Ella Bleu.
