What To Know

  • Khobe Clarke plays Beau Maxwell in Off Campus Season 1.
  • He confirmed a Beau scene from Elle Kennedy’s books will appear in Off Campus Season 2.
  • Prime Video hasn’t yet announced which book Season 2 will be focused on.

Off Campus Season 1 won’t be the last you’ll see of Beau Maxwell (Khobe Clarke). Dean’s (Stephen Kalyn) football-playing bestie earned a spot in Elle Kennedy book readers’ hearts, and the same can be said for fans of Prime Video’s TV adaptation. Beau has plenty of memorable book scenes ahead — and at least one of them will play out in Off Campus Season 2.

At Creation Entertainment‘s Page, Screen, and Everything in Between convention on May 10, Swooon asked Clarke if there was a particular moment involving his character that he hoped made it into the show. Though Prime Video has avoided confirming which of Kennedy’s books will be the primary basis for Season 2 —Logan’s The Mistake or Dean’s The Score — Beau appears in both.

“I do have a good one, but it would be, it would be a huge spoiler,” Clarke told Swooon, confirming the scene appears in Season 2. The actor had already received a script for the follow-up season when we spoke. “I know it’s in the book, and I know it’s in the show, but I can’t [say it].” (Warning: Minor book spoilers ahead!)

Before you ask, we clarified that it’s not that book scene. There are a handful of options Clarke could be referring to: Toward the end of The Mistake, Logan and his love interest, Grace (India Fowler), attend one of Beau’s parties. There, readers get their first taste of Beau and Sabrina. They briefly and casually hook up before Sabrina moves on to Tucker (who asks for Beau’s approval before pursuing her) in The Goal.

Naturally, Beau has the most scenes in The Score, which has already been partially adapted in Season 1. Fans have already gotten the scene where Dean confides in Beau that he can’t get it up for anyone else except for Allie — and the bonus scene of Beau joining Dean and Allie on their road trip to New York for Thanksgiving.

“I was so nervous for the carpool scene, but it turned out fun,” Clarke said of Beau and Allie belting out showtunes together during the drive. “I grew up doing some musical theater. I would actually say my experience with musical theater is similar to Beau’s. Open to it, but never that into it.”

But what viewers didn’t see during Dean and Allie’s Thanksgiving getaway is that moment in The Score when Beau and his sister, Joanna, invite them to a New York City nightclub. (“On The Floor” take two? Dean proves that he knows how to STAG — Logan’s acronym for “stand there and grind.”)

Dean and Allie take a drunken Beau home with them. Thinking Beau’s asleep, Dean and Allie get frisky in the living room. When Beau informs them that he’s very much awake, he asks if they’re down for a threesome. Dean’s intrigued, but Allie shuts it down.

There’s always a chance that Dean, Allie, and Beau find themselves in New York again in the show, especially considering Beau’s more expanded backstory. “Louisa and Gina talked to me at length about them going to school together [as kids], meeting at school, their families becoming friends,” Clarke said, explaining a difference from the book. “They’re in this wealthy New York circle.”

When it comes to characters that he hopes Beau interacts with more going forward, Clarke said, “I think it would be fun to interact with Garrett [Belmont Cameli], to kind of continue that friendship. And I’m excited to do scenes with Mika as Allie.”
