Huda Mustafa and Louis Russell didn’t find love during their respective stints on reality TV, and they haven’t yet found it off-screen either. On May 20, the Love Island USA and Too Hot to Handle stars revealed that they’ve broken up, per a statement to TMZ.

Their split comes amidst a legal battle with Louis’ ex — more on that below — and mere weeks after Louis and Huda entered and participated in the Unwell Winter Games as a couple. In Episode 2, which dropped in April, Huda said they had “spoken about marriage, we’ve spoken about kids, we’ve spoken about all these big things.”

Why did Huda Mustafa and Louis Russell break up?

Huda and Louis, who haven’t addressed their split on social media, didn’t get into much detail about their split in their statement to TMZ:

“We want to share that after taking time to reflect on what’s best for us both, we have mutually decided to part ways for the time being. Huda is dedicating her time and energy to being the best mother, her music career and the exciting opportunities ahead, while Louis is focused on being the best father he can be and pursuing his future endeavors. We remain friends and continue to have the utmost respect and love for one another. During this time, we kindly ask for privacy as we navigate this next chapter of our lives.”

When did Huda Mustafa and Louis Russell get together?

Days after she filmed the Love Island USA Season 7 finale in July 2025, Huda was spotted holding hands with Louis. They made their red carpet debut at the July 31 premiere of Weapons.

Both reality stars avoided talking about their relationship publicly at the time. At the Love Island USA Season 7 reunion on August 12, Huda said, “I can’t speak about my relationships outside the villa” for “legal reasons” with Netflix. (Louis’ Perfect Match Season 3 had yet to premiere.)

Cohost Andy Cohen referenced Huda’s red carpet appearance with “someone,” but Huda didn’t say anything else. In an August 27 TikTok video, Louis mocked Cohen’s reunion comments, saying, “Shut up. Just shut up, yeah?” He added in the caption, “I am under Netflix so huda’s response is doin that out of respect for me and what I got goin on and if she says she doesn’t want to talk about it it’s as simple as that she ain’t got to.”

On September 21, 2025, Huda and Louis revealed they were officially dating via an Instagram post.

What happened during the legal battle with Louis Russell and his ex?

Louis and Huda announced their split weeks after Louis dropped his custody battle against his ex-girlfriend, Nicole Olivera. He had previously claimed that she was blocking him from seeing his son. According to People, Louis told the court that he wasn’t pursuing the case anymore on April 28.

Louis said that Nicole was cutting off contact between him and their then-1-year-old son, Luka-Kai, by moving them out of the state. People also reported that, shortly before the court case began, Louis’ ex filed a restraining order against Huda. It was temporarily granted until the case was heard in court on April 3.

Nicole alleged that Huda threatened her, Luka-Kai, and Huda’s own daughter, Arleigh. In the court documents, Nicole claimed that Huda spent hours “threaten[ing] to jump off buildings, swearing on her daughter’s life that she was going to kill herself.” She also alleged in the documents that Mustafa broke into her building while “threatening to knock down our doors.”

Per People, Mustafa addressed Nicole’s claims via Instagram Stories. “Im [sic] aware of what’s being said and it’s not true,” she wrote. “Im [sic] handling everything the right way by letting legal take care of it. I appreciate everyone who continues to support me.”
