Who Is Jake Short? All About ‘Off Campus’ Star Mika Abdalla’s Ex-Fiancé
Mika Abdalla is making headlines for her role as Allie in Prime Video’s Off Campus. But while her onscreen romance with Stephen Kalyn‘s Dean Di Laurentis is taking the internet by storm, she quietly ended a real-life relationship with fiancé Jake Short recently.
A rep for Abdalla confirmed the breakup to Us Weekly: “Due to recent interest in Mika’s personal life it would feel remiss to not address that her and Jake are no longer together. They continue to support each other and remain on friendly terms, and kindly ask for privacy and respect.”

Who is Jake Short?
Short is an actor. He made his film debut in 2007’s The Anna Nicole Smith Story, followed by Shorts in 2009. His first television role was on Zeke and Luther that same year, along with a three-episode stint on Dexter as Scott Smith.
From 2011 to 2014, Short starred as Fletcher Quimby in A.N.T. Farm on Disney Channel. From 2013 to 2015, he was Oliver on Mighty Med. He had a guest role on Lessons in Chemistry and appeared in episodes of High Potential and 9-1-1 in 2025 and 2026, respectively.
Short’s other movie roles include This Is the Year, Supercool, and 2022’s Sex Appeal.
He also previously hosted the Sit and Chat podcast with pal Bradley Steven Perry, an actor who is married to Candace Cameron Bure‘s daughter, Natasha Bure. In 2026, Short directed his first short film, which Perry starred in.
How did Mika Abdalla and Jake Short meet?
Abdalla and Short met in 2021 while filming the Hulu movie Sex Appeal. They played best friends in the film and connected off-screen, as well.
“We have some very intimate scenes in that movie, so I was just like, ‘We should just talk about …'” Short said on his Sit and Chat podcast in 2024, prompting Abdalla to chime in, “Well, he was like, ‘Do you want to get together and rehearse?’ And I was like …”
Short clarified, “I was like, ‘Go over the scenes.’ Like, talk about how we’re going to do it. … At that point, we didn’t know what the film was going to look like. We hadn’t been on set yet. So we were still going into it with how the movie looked in our heads. So I was like, ‘We should go over it.’ And then we did.”
Abdalla added that Short brought a bottle of wine over for the rehearsals. “I still have the bottle of wine,” she admitted.

No, Abdalla and Short have ended their engagement and are no longer together. It’s unclear exactly when they split, but they announced the news on June 1. He was not by her side for any Off Campus press in May.
