Make way for Allie Hayes! Mika Abdalla is bringing Elle Kennedy’s beloved book character to the screen in Off Campus. Though the Prime Video adaptation will focus on the romance between Hannah Wells (Ella Bright) and hockey player Garrett Graham (Belmont Cameli), Allie is Hannah’s BFF and roommate. As we watch Hannah and Garrett fall for each other, we’ll become well-acquainted with Briar University and all of its students, including Allie.

Who does Mika Abdalla play in Off Campus?
Since she lives with Hannah, we first meet Allie Hayes in The Deal, which Season 1 is based on. Allie is an outgoing, confident drama major who dreams of being an actress. She’s a supportive, ride-or-die friend to Hannah, encouraging her to put herself out there and be more social. Allie’s also had an on-again-off-again relationship with a Briar U frat boy since freshman year. She breaks up with Sean repeatedly because she thinks they’re too young to be so serious.
Allie becomes the lead two books later in The Score. It picks up shortly before Allie’s graduation, and right as she breaks up with Sean for a final time — he wants her to give up her acting dream and move with him to Vermont. When she crashes at Garrett’s house to avoid Sean, she crosses paths with Garrett’s roommate and fellow hockey player, Dean. They start casually sleeping together, which isn’t typical for her. Dean, who’s known for being a ladies’ man, pursues Allie after she tries to cut it off. She eventually gives in on the condition that their hookups are kept secret from their friends. We won’t spoil everything else that goes down, but that’s how Allie and Dean’s romance starts!
What has Mika Abdalla been in before?
The 25-year-old is best known for leading Netflix’s teen series Project MC2, playing the love interest in the 2024 comedy Snack Shack, and starring in Hulu’s 2022 rom-com Sex Appeal. She also appeared in The Flash Season 8 and one episode of The Pitt Season 1 (which her Off Campus costar Jalen Thomas Brooks stars in).
Where is Mika Abdalla from?
Abdalla was born and raised in Plano, Texas, where she was a competitive ballroom dancer and equestrian in addition to acting. “I’m really grateful that, despite working a lot throughout my childhood, I waited to move to LA and got to have a fairly normal childhood,” Abdalla told Rollacoaster.
After high school, Abdalla majored in philosophy and minored in film at UCLA. “It’s really, really hard to juggle both,” she said in 2024. “This is the one aspect of my life that’s super separate from my career. I do feel like the process of reading philosophical works and working at comprehending what another person is trying to say about the world can totally apply to reading scripts. It’s all about understanding what a writer is trying to convey in both fields.”
