Italian tennis star Matteo Berrettini is making a run in the 2026 French Open. He has officially made it to the Quarterfinals and will be taking on fellow Italian Matteo Arnaldi in his next match on June 3.
Off the court, Matteo is in a relationship with Vanessa Bellini. Unfortunately, she hasn’t been able to attend the tournament so far, seemingly due to her own work commitments, but she recently gushed over her man in an Instagram post for his birthday in April.

Who is Vanessa Bellini?
Vanessa, who is reportedly 22 to Matteo’s 30, per Vanity Fair Italy, was born in Novara, Italy, but now lives in Lucca. According to the outlet, she is a professional hip-hop dancer. Indeed, Vanessa posted videos of herself at a dance gig amid the French Open.
Vanessa did her dance training at the Academy of Excellence in Lucca, Italy, and still works there today. She was on Season 22 of the Italian talent show Amici di Maria De Filippi in 2022, but did not make it to the final stage of competition.
Still, being on the show helped catapult her career, and she has since booked gigs in various dance troupes and at the Sanremo Music Festival.
How did Matteo Berrettini and Vanessa Bellini meet?
Matteo and Vanessa reportedly met in June 2025 while she was dancing backup for Marracash. Matteo attended Marracash’s show at Olympic Grande Torino Stadium and was introduced to Vanessa.
“Berrettini reportedly spotted her on stage and amid exchanged glances, a spark flew,” Vanity Fair Italy reported. “It was a true case of love at first sight.”

It wasn’t until October 2025 that the couple went Instagram official with their relationship. Vanessa included a photo of herself and Matteo in a gallery of images from celebrating her birthday.
What happened to Matteo Berrettini and Ajla Tomljanović?
From 2019 to 2022, Matteo was in a relationship with Croatian-Australian tennis player Ajla Tomljanović. The pair’s relationship was documented in an episode of the 2023 Netflix docuseries Break Point, which featured some tense moments between them, including an argument that stemmed from Ajla booking an early interview amid Matteo’s run in the Australian Open.

“I have to sleep,” Berrettini told her. “You go downstairs and ask for a room.” This prompted his then-girlfriend to retort, “I’m going to say on-air that you kicked me out.”
The two eventually split, with Ajla later admitting, “Every relationship has good times and bad times. I could just feel that things were not right,” per Essentially Sports. Matteo first publicly confirmed the breakup when he revealed he was “single” at the Queen’s Club Championships in June 2022.

Following his split from Ajla, Matteo dated Melissa Satta, a model and Italian television presenter who has hosted Italy’s version of Total Request Live and several other programs. Matteo and Melissa reportedly met through mutual friends in Miami and went public with their romance in January 2023.
However, by the beginning of 2024, they were broken up. “Melissa Satta and I are no longer together,” he told The Sun. “What I can say is that we had a beautiful, intense relationship. We have great respect for each other. I won’t go beyond this. I don’t like sharing my private life too much.”
