A Barry’s Bay bonfire? Say less.
The first season of Every Year After will debut on June 10, and Swooon has an exclusive preview to hold you over until the premiere. In our sneak peek, Percy (Sadie Soverall) and Delilah (Abigail Cowen) head to a bonfire and quickly run into Sam (Matt Cornett) and Jordie (Joseph Chiu).
Right away, Jordie and Delilah notice each other. “Who is that?” Delilah asks. “Percy, what is with all these guys being so hot? Is it, like, something in the lake water?” (There’s definitely something in the water.)
There’s a little bit of typical young adult awkward tension when Percy and Delilah walk up to Sam and Jordie. Sam introduces Jordie to the girls as the “local basketball star.” Delilah introduces herself personally to Jordie, and their hands touch a little too long, if you catch our drift. The sparks? They’re flying.
Meanwhile, Sam only has eyes for Percy. He doesn’t look away from her until Jordie taps him on the shoulder. That’s when he finally introduces Percy to Jordie. “Wait, the Percy? Like, the one you told me about?” Jordie wonders.
Percy thinks Sam has been gushing about her to Jordie. (Girl, we’ve all been there.) “Are you kidding? You’re famous!” Jordie tells Percy.
“Did you really eat 15 pierogis in one sitting?” Jordie asks, delivering Percy the letdown of the summer. “I think it was 12,” she clarifies. Sam immediately realizes he’s messed up and looks over at Percy, who is trying not to seem too bothered that Sam has only been talking about how she can vacuum double digits of pierogis. While impressive, Percy is clearly wanting — no, yearning — for Sam to show her a sign that he has feelings for her.
Just so you’re in the know, Every Year After will drop all eight episodes on premiere day, so you’ll be able to binge the entire series right away. The series is an adaptation of Carley Fortune‘s bestselling novel, Every Summer After.
