‘Every Year After’s Matt Cornett & Sadie Soverall Guess: Romance or Horror Movie? (VIDEO)
Turns out, Percy Fraser isn’t the only one who’s obsessed with horror!
When Every Year After stars Sadie Soverall and Matt Cornett sat down with Swooon as our June Sizzle Reel stars, we couldn’t help but challenge them to a Percy-approved game: Are these quotes romance or horror? And yes, of course, we threw a High School Musical quote in there!
Dominating the early game, guessing quotes from Titanic, Wuthering Heights, and more, Soverall confessed, “He always wins every game,” before adding, “I can’t speak too soon.”
One quote Cornett definitely knew from his East High days playing EJ Caswell in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series was “I know that something has changed, never felt this way.” Flashing back to his own iconic rendition of “Start of Something New” during the HSMTMTS premiere, he told Soverall, “Oh, that’s romance. Is that High School Musical?” Honestly, it’s a good thing he got that one right because he’d probably have to give the fandom “A Billion Sorrys” if he got that one wrong.

After identifying the romance movie entangled with his own personal lore, Cornett hit us with an impromptu HSM serenade. “[The Every Year After cast] did karaoke, but Matt wasn’t there,” Soverall revealed. Surprisingly, Cornett confessed in response, “I stay far away from a karaoke mic… I think, me and Michael [Bradway] may have been golfing or something.” Apparently, this was a fork found in kitchen situation. As Soverall put it, “They were always golfing.”
While we’re not going to spoil who won the game, we’ll give you a little bit of a hint. Cornett shared, “Here’s what sucks, because not only am I competitive, I also love horror.” Soverall defended her costar, sharing, “There are people who remember the stuff and people who just love the film,” leading him to confess, “I also have a terrible memory.”
