‘Elle’ Stars Break Down Shocking Season 1 Finale Kiss & Love Triangle Status (VIDEO)

What To Know

  • Elle Season 1 ends with a kiss between Elle and one of her love interests.
  • Jacob Moskovitz and Zac Looker take Swooon inside the filming of the scene.
  • They share how the kiss impacts both their characters.

Turns out, getting caught between chasing Warner and connecting with Emmett wasn’t Elle Woods’ first bout in Love Triangle Land.

During Season 1 of Elle, viewers get to know the iconic Legally Blonde character during her high school days, when she is ripped out of her perfect life in Bel Air and thrown into dreary, grunge-soaked Seattle. But don’t worry, if there’s one thing we know about Elle Woods, it’s that she can make anyone like her. That’s why, the second Dustin (Zac Looker) and Miles (Jacob Moskovitz) enter the picture, it’s clear that both will be taken with Elle by the end of the season. The only question is: Who was Elle’s high school sweetheart? (Warning: Season 1 spoilers ahead!)

Following the Season 1 finale of Elle, cast members Zac Looker and Jacob Moskovitz sat down with Swooon to discuss their characters’ butterfly-inducing love triangle with Elle and the unexpected kiss during the school’s Informal.

While Elle and Dustin start fake-dating early on, Dustin clearly resists the idea of liking Elle for most of the season. Looker explained, “It’s not even necessarily about him being so resistant to it. I think it’s something that’s flying underneath his radar in a lot of ways, especially because another large element of it is the fact that it seems like their focus is this larger thing that’s happening at the school.” As Looker put it, that mystery is a “cornerstone” of their early relationship and forms a bit of “antagonism” between them.

According to Looker, Dustin is also very aware of Elle’s “Miles situation.” He explained, “Obviously, [you] would be a little bit more resistant to something if you felt like there wasn’t the possibility of reciprocation.”

Luckily for him, while Miles is Elle’s first kiss, it’s Dustin who kisses Elle at the Informal, after the two argue about why she asked him to be her date. Not so luckily for Miles, he watches the whole thing unfold. Moskovitz told Swooon that Elle and Dustin’s kiss was a major “let down” for Miles because he had been rooting for Elle all along.

“I think in his eyes, he’s been, most of that finale episode, rooting for [Elle’s] homecoming, and really counting on it and needing it, not just for himself, but because he recognizes the work that they all did together to better the community. Then she left and had a really tough falling out, too, with Shannon coming back to the school, and so it all went down not so well.” In the end, “he’s so excited to see her, and then, of course, what he sees when he first does is not what he expected to see.”

Taking us behind the scenes, Moskovitz shared, “It was such a fun scene to shoot, just because there’s so much chaos happening around [Elle and Dustin’s kiss], and then it sort of splits open [revealing that Miles is watching.]”

Of course, the scene was not as romantic IRL as it read onscreen. Looker revealed, “It was quite funny to shoot because we’d be having this moment, and we’d be doing take after take after take of it, and then we’d part, and we’d turn, and you were just standing there.” Moskovitz added, “I just had to retain that disappointment.”

After that shocking ending, we’re eager to find out where Elle’s love life takes her in Season 2! So, are you Team Miles or Team Dustin? Sound off in the comments below!
