During Season 12 of 90 Day Fiancé, fans met Catie Norboe‘s friends, who she can’t seem to stop spontaneously kissing after drinking, but we haven’t gotten to know her family. That is, until now.
Episode 11 of the season saw Catie, a 26-year-old international pet sitter, and her fiancé, 30-year-old British web developer Josh Atkins, travel to her parents’ house in California to start planning for their wedding and celebrate Easter. There, we met her parents, Dan and Debbie, who were thrilled to welcome Josh to their home ahead of the holiday. Turns out, Catie comes from quite a religious background, while Josh is agnostic.

Who are Catie Norboe’s parents?
Catie’s parents are Daniel and Deborah Norboe, who live in Alameda, California. Looking back at her childhood, Catie explained, “As a kid, I was super bossy. Everybody else in my family is super chill. I’m kind of like the odd one out in terms of being wild… My whole family is rule-following.” Josh, who is very chill and rule-following, was thrilled to hear this.
Catie revealed that this reunion marks the first time she’s seen her family in a while, since she’s been abroad pet-sitting. Her mother revealed that it had been about a year since they were together. Her dad explained, “It’s good to have [Catie] around. She really brings that spirit up and all that, and I enjoy her company a lot in the first two or three days. Then afterwards, you get tired…”
What do Catie’s parents do?
Catie’s parents appear to both be scientists. Daniel is a retired mechanical engineer who studied at the University of California, Davis, which is also where Catie went to college. Debbie appears to be a retired biotechnology professional who used to work at Berkeley Advanced Biomaterials.
What is Catie’s parents’ religion?
Religion is clearly a major part of Catie’s family life. She revealed that both she and her family are Lutheran. Josh told viewers that he wouldn’t describe himself as having any faith. Later, he admitted, “I am a little bit nervous just with the whole Easter. I’m still trying to work out what religion is in America and the way people talk about religion.”
According to Catie, Josh not wanting to go to church or raise their children Lutheran would be a dealbreaker. During a preview for the next episode, Catie’s mom could be seen telling Josh, “To get into Heaven, you need to accept Jesus Christ as your savior.”
Do Catie’s parents approve of Josh?
Ahead of chatting with Josh about his religion, Catie’s mom revealed that she thinks that Josh is “really good for [Catie].” She continued, “He does seem to make her think less of herself and more towards others. That’s a character flaw that she has had all her life, and she was just bossy as a little kid.”
