‘Sterling Point’ Cast Reveals Season 2 Romantic Hopes for Annie, Ramona & More

Sterling Point leaves most of its romances in not-quite-definitive places, setting them up to be explored further in a potential Season 2. We’re sure you have plenty of hopes for Annie (Ella Rubin) and Ellis (Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie) as well as Ramona (Amélie Hoeferle) and Oona (Bo Bragason) down the line — and the cast does, too. (Warning: Spoilers ahead for Sterling Point Season 1!)
During an interview for Swooon’s Sizzle Reel spotlight, Rubin — alongside Keen Ruffalo (Connor), Daniel Quinn-Toye (Rory), Hoeferle, Whiteduck-Lavoie, and Bragason — revealed where she wants to see Annie’s romantic journey go after picking Ellis over Rory just ahead of the finale. Now that Annie’s decided to stay in Sterling Point, Rubin wants Annie to be “her silliest, most romantic self.”
“I do hope that Annie gets to have fun, and we see her go to this place of being able to enjoy yourself and lean into a crush and admit her feelings in a way that’s super uncomfortable for her,” she explains. “I would love […] if they can like be really silly together. Also, Jacob as an actor is so funny, and I want people to see more of that.”
Unlike Season 1, which sees Annie and Ellis navigate a ton of roadblocks before they can be together, Rubin says, “I would love to see Annie and Ellis not have to deal with anything or go through anything and just get to do karaoke or get in the boat or like, I don’t know, have fun.”
Whiteduck-Lavoie, on the other hand, wants to try his hand at some romantic angst. He hopes Ellis is “shattered” by Annie in a potential Season 2, which would stand in contrast to their happy ending in Season 1. “I would love to get to play that and make his world harder a little bit,” the actor says. “I mean, he didn’t have it easy, but…”
“But Annie just really likes him, right?” Rubin adds. “She tortures Rory a little bit. Not Ellis so much.”

On the Rory front, Quinn-Toye hopes his character finds his confidence separate from Annie. “Because I feel like half the reason that he’s pursuing Annie and has that love for Annie is that she brings out this side of him, or he’s kind of at odds with who he’s hanging around with,” he explains. “Or he realizes he can just be the person he wants to be without needing someone to show that confidence, to show him that path. He can just take it and be by himself.”
Ramona and Oona don’t end up lucky in love by the end of Season 1, either, breaking up when Ramona decides to spend time in New York with her newfound family members. Should the show get renewed for another season, Hoeferle hopes Ramona spends time processing her grief first. “I think she just needs to work on her relationship with herself first before she’s ready for [a relationship],” she said.
For her character, Bragason said, “I’d love to see [Oona] going through a little bit of a hot girl summer phase at the start and then end with Ramoona back together.”
Connor doesn’t get a romance in Season 1, but that could change in Season 2. He wants Connor to find “someone that he’d feel comfortable enough to drop the whole ‘has to be funny, has to keep things light’ persona.”
“I mean, you see it on [his] birthday with Denise [Missi Pyle, who plays Rory’s mom] where he does kind of vent to her,” Ruffalo says, recalling the conversation Connor and Denise have at the former’s birthday party. “And someone that he can just be himself more with and be more open than he feels like he can be with like anyone else.”
