‘General Hospital’s Dominic Zamprogna Reveals Surprising Dante & Liz Detail

“She’s a premier pairing,” Bradford Anderson said about General Hospital‘s Elizabeth “Liz” Webber during the latest edition of his That’s Awesome podcast with Steve Burton. With Dominic Zamprogna, aka Dante Falconeri, as their latest guest, Anderson and Burton knew they had to inquire about Dante and Liz’s blossoming relationship.
While the two have an easy chemistry, this isn’t the first time the General Hospital writers wanted to explore a potential romance between them. Zamprogna revealed that the current Dante and Liz dynamic could have started years ago.
“I know her and I had scenes, like, years ago, and we were both laughing because of how bad they were,” the actor admitted. “And she’s like, ‘Well, I guess we’re not gonna be paired up any time soon,’ because we both thought the scenes were just awkward. Anyway, to the point where we laughed immediately after they called cut and said, ‘Well, so much for that,’ or something like that.”

Now the timing is just right to tap into something more between Dante and Liz. Zamprogna believes this natural evolution leads to more honest performances. “I didn’t want to get scenes with Becky and be trying to find the chemistry,” he said. “I just wanted to kind of play whatever honestly was written and came across for both of us and hope that it was what people liked.”
The actor recognized that Liz’s pairings with characters like Jason (Burton), Lucky (Jonathan Jackson), Ric (Rick Hearst) have amassed passionate fanbases. Ric and Liz have recently rekindled their romance years after their first go-round, which has created a love triangle of sorts between Ric, Liz, and Dante. (Zamprogna brought up Ric drugging Liz in the past and the whole panic room storyline. “It’s a hard thing to get past,” he admitted.)
Zamprogna has been a notable member of the General Hospital cast for 17 years. During his interview with Anderson and Burton, the soap actor dished that his audition scene was one with Carly (Laura Wright) — and there was supposed to be “some flirtatiousness” between them. However, once Zamprogna was cast, Dante being a potential love interest for Carly fell apart.
