Ah yes, Seattle, the romance capital of the world.

Now that Season 1 of Elle, the prequel series to Legally Blonde, is finally here, it’s about time that we break down the complicated character connections and relationships in the halls of Rainier West. After all, things are getting pretty messy in Elle’s (Lexi Minetree) love life and friend group! (Warning: Season 1 spoilers ahead!)

From Shannon’s (Danielle Chand) Seattle circle before Elle came to town, to the love triangle between Elle, Miles (Jacob Moskovitz), and Dustin (Zac Looker) that is so neck-and-neck, we don’t know who to ship her with, we’re breaking down where everyone stands with each other at the end of the season, who’s taken things to the next level — we’re looking at you Kimberly (Chandler Kinney) and Liz (Gabrielle Policano)! — and who’s got bad bad blood.

Scroll for a complete visual guide to the relationships and character connections from Elle Season 1, and comment below with your favorite duo from the season.

Elle Character Map

Of course, Elle Woods is at the heart of our Elle character map! While nobody makes things official this season, Elle or otherwise, but we see a lot of sparks fly through some well-timed kisses. Elle locks lips with both Dustin and Miles at moments throughout Season 1, while Kimberly and Liz share a kiss in the finale. Dustin and Madison also kiss, which we’re expecting to come back to bite them next season!

Towards the middle of the season, Miles and Shannon break up. While this is before Miles and Elle share a kiss, the fact that Elle didn’t tell Shannon causes some major bad blood between the duo. Another messy situation? From the start of the season, Kimberly is not fan of Elle. While their relationship may be on the mend, they still land squarely in the “bad blood” category in our book.

On the other hand, Elle has completely won Liz over (at least, she did before the Cosmo article came out). We’d place Liz in the Elle’s besties category, right along with Madison (Jessica Belkin) heading into Season 2. Scroll to find out more about all of these connections.

Elle's Love Triangle

This season, Elle has two major love interests: Dustin and Miles. Sorry, Hot Josh (Logan Shroyer), you didn’t make the map! While Miles shares Elle’s first kiss, we’re left off with Dustin and Elle’s kiss at the end of the season. Nobody’s made things official yet, so we’ll have to wait until Season 2 to find who Elle’s high school sweetheart was!

Elle's Friends

Let’s hear it for the besties! Elle and Madison’s relationship may be a wild ride this season, but these ride-or-dies will definitely make it work. At the same time, we’ve decided to include Liz in Elle’s besties list because their relationship has the most growth by far this season. Do they lose touch before Elle rushes Delta Nu? Only time will tell!

Shannon's Circle

Before Elle hits Seattle, Shannon is happily dating Miles and sees the best in her friend Kimberly. A.E. (After Elle) things look a little different in the gloomy city. Shannon and Miles split, and while Shannon and Kimberly are still friends, Shannon does see some of her true colors.

Frenemies?

While Elle has the most in common with Shannon out of all of her Seattle classmates, their friendship takes a hard turn when Miles admits to Shannon that he and Elle kissed after they split. Honestly, we can see where Shannon is coming from when her feelings about Elle take a turn.

Rivals

From the second Kimberly met Elle, she did not like her because she saw Elle as a poser. The second Kimberly caught on to Elle’s crush on Miles, their relationship took a turn for the worse.

Summer Camp Sweethearts

Kimberly and Liz had some major, undefined issues with each other at the end of the season. However, as the season goes on, Liz calls out Kimberly for completely ignoring her after making out with her all summer at camp. Finally admitting her feelings, Kimberly kissed Liz in the finale. Of course, we’re curious to find out whether Kimberly will own up to their relationship this time around, but this is a good start.

Dustin & Madison's Makeout

Somehow, Liz and Kimberly did not have the most shocking kiss of the season. That title goes to Dustin and Madison, who made out in the Rainforest Cafe bathroom moments after meeting for the first time.

Bruiser

Shout-out to one of the only characters to appear in both Legally Blonde and Elle: Bruiser! We love an origin story, and this is as much yours as it is Elle’s.
