Peacock

Love Island USA Season 8 is bringing the relationship drama. The original 10 Islanders started their search for love on June 2, but multiple bombshells have disrupted connections — and formed new ones in the process. Amidst the love triangles and unexpected dumpings, Swooon has broken down every single development below. (Warning: Spoilers through Episode 11 ahead!)

As of the June 11 episode, we’ve seen two Islanders go home. A few episodes earlier, three new contestants entered the villa at once, leading to America voting on who they should couple up with. As a result, a Day 1 couple seemingly fizzled out, while another OG Islander was sent home.

That’s only the tip of the iceberg of villa drama. It’s a lot to keep track of in under two weeks’ worth of episodes, which is why we’ve recapped everything below. Whether you missed an episode or some details simply escaped your notice, we can help you catch up. Check back for updates after every recoupling, and let us know your favorite matchups in the comments at the end of the page!

'Love Island USA' Season 8's Corbin and Melanie
Peacock

Corbin & Melanie

Coupled up since Episode 9

Corbin and Melanie discovered they had chemistry during a brief chat. When America voted for their partners to pair up with bombshells in Episode 9, Corbin picked Melanie to be in a couple with. So, it’s still early days for them. Both have history with two other Islanders, which you can read more about below. Corbin is still exploring things with Kenzie. As of Episode 11, Melanie seems like she’s ready to move on from her Day 1 partner, Sincere, but only time will tell if she’ll cut things off for good.

Peacock

Gabriel & Jen

Coupled up since Episode 9

America voted for Jen to be with Gabriel, ending the latter’s relationship with Beatriz in Episode 9. Once Beatriz was dumped from the island, Gabriel and Jen continued to get to know each other. They haven’t explored any other connections or had any major drama between their Episode 9 coupling and Episode 11.

Kenzie & Caleb

Coupled up since Episode 9

Caleb caught Kenzie’s attention as soon as she noticed his southern accent. She’d been wanting a cowboy-type to come into the villa since Day 1. Though she was happy to be in a couple with Corbin, she wasn’t mad about getting to know Caleb better. As of Episode 11, Caleb hasn’t shown any interest in the other girls, and things are going well between him and Kenzie. Kenzie hasn’t ended things with Corbin completely yet, though.

Love Island USA Season 8's Sol and Sincere
Peacock

Sincere & Sol

Coupled up since Episode 9

Despite being in a couple with Melanie, Sincere was interested in Sol almost as soon as she walked in the door in Episode 6. They shared several kisses and one-on-one conversations before Sincere notified Melanie, with whom he was questioning his connection. America voted for Sincere to be with Sol in Episode 9, and they’ve been going strong since then. Sincere has mentioned that he didn’t want to end things completely with Melanie, though Melanie seemed less receptive to continuing their relationship after Episode 9’s recoupling.

Charlie and Kayda in 'Love Island USA' Season 8 Episode 2
Peacock

Zach & Kayda

Coupled up since Episode 2

Zach told Kenzie, whom he coupled up with in Episode 1, that she wasn’t his type and later said in a confessional that he wanted to explore other connections. At the end of Episode 1, Kenzie chose to stay with Zach, but Zach blindsided her when he chose the opposite. Zach was pulled away to a separate villa by bombshell Kayda, who wound up picking him over Bryce when they returned to the main group. Though both have been open to exploring other connections, Zach and Kayda coupled up again in Episode 5. They’ve remained in a relatively drama-free couple since then, even going to the Hideaway together in Episode 11.

'Love Island USA' Season 8's Aniya and KC
Peacock

Aniya & KC

Coupled up since Episode 1

On Day 1, Aniya and KC ended up as a couple by default. None of the girls picked KC to couple up with, and Sincere picked Melanie over Aniya. But by the end of Episode 1, Aniya and KC were enjoying getting to know each other, so it wasn’t a terrible outcome for either of them.

They chose to stay together when host Ariana Madix asked if they wanted to explore other connections. They’ve been a happy, drama-free couple over the course of the first week, so Aniya picked KC officially in Episode 5. They’ve continued to explore their connection since then. Aniya hasn’t had chats with any other guys, though KC had one with Sol in Episode 11. Aniya wondered if she was KC’s “safe” option, but KC assured her that she wasn’t.

Trinity and Bryce in 'Love Island' Season 8
Peacock

Trinity & Bryce

Coupled up since Episode 1

Trinity was the only girl to pick Bryce on Day 1. They didn’t want to stay closed off in a couple with each other by the end of the next day. Both put themselves out there when the new bombshells arrived. But when neither were picked by their respective bombshells in Episode 2, they were put back into a couple by default. (As KC said, “Awkward.”)

But after that, Trinity and Bryce remained in a drama-free couple over the first five days in the villa, continuing to get to know each other. Trinity was the last girl to pick her partner in Episode 5. Though she’d chatted with Sean, she went with her Day 1 partner. Trinity has stayed solely committed to Bryce since then, but Bryce pulled Kayda for a chat to see if there was any chemistry between them in Episode 8. Kayda shut things down quickly, and Bryce has remained in a couple with Trinity since.

Kenzie and Corbin in Love Island USA Season 8
Peacock

Kenzie & Corbin

Coupled up from Episode 5 to Episode 9

Episode 5’s recoupling saw not only OG Islander Sean go home, but a new couple form. Since he’d spent less than a day in the villa, Corbin got first pick out of all the girls. Prior to the recoupling, Corbin had conversations with most of the girls in the villa, including a few with Kenzie. Corbin told her that she was exactly his type, and he chose her over Melanie and Kayda when it came down to it.

During Episode 9’s recoupling, America voted for Kenzie to partner up with new bombshell Caleb. But Kenzie still had feelings for Corbin, so she continued to explore both connections. As of Episode 11, Corbin is in a similar boat, exploring things with new partner Melanie while not cutting off Kenzie completely.

Melanie and Sincere in 'Love Island USA' season 8
Peacock

Melanie & Sincere

Coupled up from Episode 1 to Episode 9

Melanie and Sincere picked each other on Day 1, with Melanie noting that Sincere felt familiar as her reason for going with him. When they were given the option to keep exploring other connections the next day, both opted to stay with each other. Over the course of their first full day in the villa, they bonded over both being from the Philly area.

There was some trouble in paradise in the days that followed. Melanie wasn’t happy when a villa game revealed that Sincere had once texted other girls when he was with one of his ex-partners. Melanie had conversations with other guys in the villa, including bombshell Corbin, but she ultimately stuck with Sincere in Episode 5. Things got even rockier when Sincere’s head was turned by bombshell Sol in Episode 6. Ultimately, America decided for Sincere to partner up with Sol, though time will tell if things are completely over between him and Melanie.

Beatriz and Gabriel in 'Love Island USA' Season 8 Episode 2
Peacock

Beatriz & Gabriel

Coupled up from Episode 2 to Episode 9

In Episode 2, Sean was blindsided when Beatriz, his Day 1 partner, decided to keep exploring. Along with Trinity, Beatriz was pulled away by bombshell Gabriel to a separate villa called Paradise Cove. Beatriz and Gabriel discovered that they had chemistry during their time together, and he picked her over Trinity when they returned to the OG villa. After not exploring any alternative connections, Beatriz chose Gabriel during Episode 5’s recoupling. Their relationship ended when America voted for Gabriel to couple up with bombshell Jen, leaving Beatriz single and dumped from the villa in Episode 9.

Beatriz and Sean in 'Love Island USA' Season 8
Peacock

Beatriz & Sean

Coupled up from Episode 1 to Episode 2

Beatriz and Sean found that most of their answers aligned during Episode 1’s door game. Beatriz was the only one to pick Sean afterward — their steamy kisses were a factor in her decision — so they coupled up. Though they had good conversations the next day, Beatriz felt some hesitation moving forward with Sean due to the fact that he’s a father of a young child. By the end of the episode, she decided to keep her options open, while Sean wanted to stay locked in. Beatriz was pulled away by bombshell Gabriel, ending her coupling with Sean. Sean was sent home in Episode 5.

'Love Island USA' Season 8's Kenzie and Zach
Peacock

Kenzie & Zach

Coupled up from Episode 1 to Episode 2

On the first day, Kenzie was the only one to pick Zach so they wound up as a couple. They noted that their answers mostly aligned during Episode 1’s door game, and their kisses were solid. But things weren’t looking good toward the end of the episode: Zach told Kenzie that she wasn’t his type, so she started wondering if he was really feeling things with her. Zach said in a confessional that he wanted to explore connections outside of Kenzie, and he got his wish during the episode’s final moments. Kenzie chose to stay locked in her coupling with Zach, but Zach kept his options open. He was pulled away by bombshell Kayda.
