The first week ofLove Island USASeason 8 has come and gone, and we’ve already seen couples split and new ones form. The original 10 Islanders started their search for love on June 2, but multiple bombshells have disrupted seemingly-stable connections. (Warning: Spoilers through Episode 5 ahead!)
In the June 7 episode, a new addition led to OG cast member Sean Reifel going home. After originally coupling up with — and being left by — Zach Georgiou, Kenzie Annis found a connection with bombshell Corbin Mims. Kenzie was Sean’s strongest connection, so he had to pack his bags when no other girl picked him.
That’s only the tip of the iceberg of villa drama. It’s a lot to keep track of in just five episodes, which is why we’ve charted every single relationship development and recapped it all below. Whether you missed an episode or some details simply escaped your notice, we can help you catch up. Check back for updates after every recoupling, and let us know your favorite matchups in the comments at the end of the page!

Day of coupling: Episode 5
Episode 5’s recoupling saw not only OG Islander Sean go home, but a new couple form. Since he’d spent less than a day in the villa, Corbin got first pick out of all the girls. Prior to the recoupling, Corbin had conversations with most of the girls in the villa, including a couple with Kenzie. Corbin told her that she was exactly his type, and he chose her over Melanie Moreno and Kayda Bosse when it came down to it.

Zach & Kayda
Day of coupling: Episode 2
Zach told Kenzie, whom he coupled up with in Episode 1, that she wasn’t his type and later said in a confessional that he wanted to explore other connections. At the end of Episode 1, Kenzie chose to stay with Zach, but Zach blindsided her when he chose opposite. Zach was pulled away to a separate villa by bombshell Kayda, who wound up picking him over Bryce Dettloff when they returned to the main group. Though both have been open to exploring other connections, Zach and Kayda coupled up again in Episode 5.

Beatriz & Gabriel
Day of coupling: Episode 2
In Episode 2, Sean was blindsided when Beatriz Hatz, his Day 1 partner, decided to keep exploring. Beatriz was pulled away by bombshell Gabriel Vasconcelos to a separate villa called Paradise Cove. Beatriz and Gabriel discovered that they had chemistry during their time together, and he picked her over Trinity Tatum when they returned. After not exploring any alternative connections, Beatriz chose Gabriel during Episode 5’s recoupling.

Aniya & KC
Day of coupling: Episode 1
On Day 1, Aniya Harvey and KC Chandler ended up in a couple by default. None of the girls picked KC to couple up with, and Sincere Rhea picked Melanie over Aniya. But Aniya and KC were enjoying getting to know each other by the end of Episode 1, so it wasn’t a terrible end result for either of them. They chose to stay together when host Ariana Madix asked if they wanted to explore other connections. They’ve been in a happy, drama-free couple over the course of the first week, so Aniya picked KC officially in Episode 5.

Melanie & Sincere
Day of coupling: Episode 1
Melanie and Sincere picked each other on Day 1, with Melanie noting that Sincere felt familiar as her reason for going with him. When they were given the option to keep exploring other connections the next day, both opted to stay with each other. Over the course of their first full day in the villa, they bonded over both being from the Philly area.
There was some trouble in paradise in the days that followed. Melanie wasn’t happy when a villa game revealed that Sincere had once texted other girls when he was with one of his ex-partners. Melanie had conversations with other guys in the villa, including bombshell Corbin, but she ultimately stuck with Sincere in Episode 5.

Trinity & Bryce
Day of coupling: Episode 1
Trinity was the only girl to pick Bryce on Day 1. They didn’t want to stay closed off in a couple with each other by the end of the next day. Both put themselves out there when the new bombshells arrived. But when neither were picked by their respective bombshells in Episode 2, they were put back into a couple by default. (As KC said, “Awkward.”)
But after that, Trinity and Bryce remained in a drama-free couple over the first five days in the villa, continuing to get to know each other. Trinity was the last girl to pick her partner in Episode 5. Though she’d chatted with Sean, she went with her Day 1 partner.
