Back to Briar U! ‘Off Campus’ Season 1’s Best Behind-the-Scenes Photos
We’re having major Off Campus withdrawals. It’s getting seriously dire while we wait for Off Campus Season 2. To cope, we recommend watching Season 1 again and re-reading Elle Kennedy’s hockey romance book series for the umpteenth time. If you haven’t read Kennedy’s first book, The Deal, which covers Hannah (Ella Bright) and Garrett’s (Belmont Cameli) love story, this is your sign. But we’ve acquired another hobby that makes Off Campus‘ temporary absence a little less painful — looking through behind-the-scenes photos.
Lucky for us, Stephen Kalyn, Mika Abdalla, Josh Heuston Jalen Thomas Brooks, Antonio Cipriano, and even Kennedy herself have shared plenty of BTS photos and videos from filming Season 1. Costumers, makeup artists, and other crew members have posted their own, too. There’s so much content that it’s not hard to lose track of it all, so to make things easier for you, we’ve put all the best photos in one place. Block Party
Who could forget the block party, when Dean meets Allie and calls her “princess” for the first time? Not us. And we have a BTS photo of the scene with a few other members of the Briar U crew, courtesy of Antonio Cipriano.
Core Four
We remember exactly where we were when Off Campus revealed the first look at the core four in their practice hockey uniforms.
"Respect."
Dean and Garrett’s scene at the gym will never not be iconic, so we had to include this behind-the-scenes photo to commemorate it. There’s no other reason.
Hockey Doubles
Fun fact: New York Rangers defenseman Vincent Iorio was Belmont Cameli’s stunt double for the more intense hockey scenes. According to Stephen Kalyn, Cameli is the “worst player” out of the four of them by far, so it sounds like a double was needed.
Hannah's Helmet
There are too many amazing things going on in this photo, including Mika Abdalla wearing a Di Laurentis hockey jersey to commemorate the final day of shooting. But Hannah’s helmet is the star of the show. A “cool helmet” indeed.
Robes!
We think this picture speaks for itself. Everyone say thank you to Cameli for this one.
Screen Test (?)
Cameli shared too many gems to pick from, including what seems to be a shot from his screen test with Bright. Unconfirmed, but it looks like it.
Hello, Hunter Davenport
Charlie Evans had to keep his casting as Hunter Davenport under lock and key, so he couldn’t post any photos with the cast during filming. However, once Season 1 came out, he did share this gem.
Fire Pit Scene
Allie and Dean’s fire pit conversation is so intimate that it’s easy to forget everything that went on behind the scenes to make that magic. (Costumer Tyler Greer has more BTS photos on their profile, BTW.)
Costume Party
Dean and Beau’s joint birthday-costume party will go down in history for more reasons than one: Dean and Allie’s “On the Floor” dance, Hannah’s bunny costume, etc. Jalen Thomas Brooks gave fans a “hawk’s eye view” of this scene and more on Instagram.
Required Reading
We owe Elle Kennedy a lot. Not only did she create the hockey romance universe we can’t get enough of, but she also shared a ton of BTS content from her set visits. These photos of her two main couples reading their respective books may be her best of them all.
A Moment for the Sweatpants
Garrett’s sweatpants look is so good that we’ll forgive him for his terrible choice in footwear. Makeup artist Isabelle Fallu shared this one on Instagram (along with a bunch of other BTS shots).
The Tracksuits
The Briar U tracksuits are certainly… interesting. Somehow, the boys make them work.
The Boys' House
Kennedy gifted fans with a behind-the-scenes look at the boys’ off-campus house and where the magic happens (aka Garrett’s bedroom).
Family Dinner
Technically, this isn’t a scene, but we’ll count it since they’re in costume. It looks like the cast had a family dinner while filming. Adorable.
Quinten James' Photo Dump
“Will play the villain for @offcampusonprime,” Delaney actor Quinten James wrote on Instagram. “So pumped seeing this show get the love it deserves + having so much fun watching edits of Delaney getting beat up to Evanescence and Paramore and bangers from other languages around the world.” Legendary.
Plus, his photo dump included a photo of the cast’s trailer doors. Day 1 Off Campus fans will remember during filming last summer when the cast shared those “Papa John” and “Daddy Dean” trailer photos. The hype was real.
