‘Off Campus’: Who Is Playing Garrett Graham? All About Belmont Cameli
Garrett Graham, we need you on our screens expeditiously. Garrett is the hockey boy who made us fall in love with Elle Kennedy’s Off Campus book series in the first place. It’s been over a decade since The Deal came out — and Kennedy’s published almost a dozen more books in the universe since — but Garrett is the blueprint.
So, who is the actor bringing Briar U’s star captain to life in the Prime Video series? That would be none other than Belmont Cameli. It’ll be a few months (at least) until we get to see Garrett in all his glory, so we did some research on the actor playing him in the meantime. (Did it do anything to ease our impatience? No. No, it did not.) Get to know the 27-year-old below.
Who does Belmont Cameli play in Off Campus?
Book readers know full well who Garrett is, but in case you’re new to the Off Campus universe, allow us to give you a rundown. Garrett Graham is the star center of the Briar University Hawks. As the captain of the hockey team, Garrett has a healthy amount of confidence when it comes to everything, including girls.

The charmer seems like a surface-level hockey bro at first, but he’s also a ride-or-die friend. He’s also immensely dedicated to his sport, which is partially driven by his familial connection to it. Garrett’s dad (who’s being played by Steve Howey) is a former NHL star who’s abused and held Garrett to a strict standard all his life. It complicates Garrett’s ability to connect with others emotionally, including his tutor, music major Hannah Wells (Ella Bright). What has Belmont Cameli been in before?
Cameli made his debut in a 2018 episode of Empire. (Fun fact: His character is listed only as “Cute Guy” on IMDb.) He landed roles in movies like The Husband and Most Guys Are Losers before he made his breakout in the 2020 reboot of Saved by the Bell. He played Jamie Spano, the son of original cast member Jessie Spano (Elizabeth Berkley). “Saved by the Bell was my first big job, and Universal lot is really where I got to cut my teeth as an actor; that was a real education for me,” he told Flaunt.

He’d mostly dealt in comedy and romance — Cameli played the lead love interest in the Netflix 2022 rom-dram Along for the Ride — until 2023. His roles started to take a more dramatic turn with Based on a True Story and The Alto Nights, which also starred Robert De Niro. “That was crazy, I grew up a huge fan of Robert De Niro,” he said in his Flaunt interview. “When I was a kid, and still to this day, when people ask me what my favorite movie is I tell them, A Bronx Tale.”
Most recently, he appeared in the adaptation of the horror video game Until Dawn. “I had gotten to do a lot of great jobs but I really felt like I was in the right place when I got to Budapest to film Until Dawn,” he told The Laterals. “I’ll never forget when I arrived at the airport in Budapest and a production member picked me up with a script and handed it to me; I felt like I had really arrived for the first time.”
Where is Belmont Cameli from?
Cameli grew up the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, and he stayed local for college, attending the University of Illinois as a business major before leaving after one year. Determined to make it as an actor, Cameli took on modeling jobs in Chicago before making the jump to Los Angeles in 2019, according to Flaunt. He told The Laterals that he’s found a great community of friends and loved ones in Los Angeles, though he also has a support system in his family back at home.
“As far as support, largely my journey has been one of solitude,” he told The Laterals. “I didn’t have a template when I started acting. Nobody in my family had a creative career. I kind of had to forge my own path. So a lot of it, frankly, has been supporting myself and just really believing in myself and keeping my head down and knowing that good work will come as long as I’m doing the right things and that I’m focused and striving towards my goals, which I always am.”
Does Belmont Cameli play hockey?
It appears that Cameli doesn’t have any hockey experience, but we’ll likely find out for sure once Off Campus promo starts. He does have an athletic past, having played three sports in high school: football, wrestling, and volleyball. From the looks of videos Off Campus has released so far, Cameli picked up hockey in a way that would make Garrett Graham proud.
