The next chapters of The Black Dagger Brotherhood wouldn’t be complete without Bella! Mariah Davis has been cast as Bella ahead of Season 2 of the Passionflix series, Swooon can exclusively reveal.
Swooon previously announced that Audrey Hare had been cast as Mary and Bobby Hogan would play John Matthew in the upcoming second season, which kicks off production in March. Season 2 will follow the events of Lover Eternal, the second book in J.R. Ward’s bestselling book series. Bella is introduced in Lover Eternal before becoming a main character in Lover Awakened.
“Bella is both ethereal and grounded, and that combination is not easy to find. Mariah brings a natural grace and emotional intelligence that makes us incredibly excited to see her bring Bella to life,” Tosca Musk, founder and CEO of Passionflix, said in a statement.
Ward also shared a statement on Davis’ casting: “Lover Awakened is a heart-wrenching story of pain and healing, and we needed an actress who could be the anchor for that profound journey. Mariah’s depth and centered presence strike that perfect balance between vulnerability and strength, and she is also luminous on screen. Our perfect Bella!”
In Lover Eternal, Bella is a friend and neighbor to Mary. After being introduced to the Brotherhood, Mary falls in love with Rhage. Lover Awakened continues to follow The Black Dagger Brotherhood and chronicles Mary’s love story with Zsadist.
The second season of The Black Dagger Brotherhood will premiere later this year. Passionflix hasn’t officially announced a third season of the vampire series, but Season 1 star Olivia Applegate told Swooon that the team behind The Black Dagger Brotherhood had every intention of making the show the “vampire Bridgerton,” with each season covering a book in Ward’s beloved series.
