Who is Mackenyu’s wife?
Mackenyu hasn’t revealed his wife’s name to the public, and she hasn’t been identified in the years they’ve been together. In January 2023, various Japanese outlets reported that Mackenyu announced his marriage via a message to his fan club. He announced it in a joint statement with his brother, Gordan “Go” Maeda, who also revealed that he’d tied the knot.
“When my father was alive, he was looking forward to my marriage more than anyone else, so I’m very happy to be able to tell everyone about it today, on his birthday,” Mackenyu reportedly wrote, according to Hello Magazine. His father was Kill Bill star and martial artist Sonny Chiba, who died of COVID-19 complications in 2021.
Unlike Mackenyu and his family members, his wife isn’t in the entertainment business. Outlets reported that she’s not a celebrity, though they supposedly met through work and dated for about two years before marrying. Several articles also mention that she’s older than her husband.
Mackenyu has offered up a few relationship details in the years since. “There was a time when I played games from 12:00 p.m. until 12:00 p.m. the next day,” he said during a 2023 appearance on the Japanese talk show A-Studio+. “That was before I met my wife. [Now] I sleep properly, I eat properly.”
The actor made sure to let the audience know just how special his wife is. “I definitely won the lottery in life,” he said. “I’ve never met anyone as beautiful and as cute as her in my life. I say that everyday. The first time I met her, I knew I immediately wanted to marry her.”
He echoed the sentiment during a 2024 interview with Cosmopolitan. “[Love] was definitely something I felt the first day I met my wife,” he recalled. “I knew I couldn’t be happy without her and I knew I needed her in my life to be happy for the rest of my life.”

Mackenyu doesn’t appear to have spoken about parenthood publicly, but in June 2023, he was pictured with his pregnant wife. About a month later, he was also spotted in Honolulu, Hawaii pushing a stroller, according to a Japanese outlet.
